Talk about misinformation!atsch The only great thing I see in Ali is how far his fans will go to defend him. First, Ali the green kid: Ali was three years as a pro in the Cooper fight. That's not a green kid! "Ali lost just a few rounds to Norton!"atsch Tell that to all the experts who said he lost all three fights to Norton. "It's ok for Ali to struggle with Young." Young had lost to club fighter Randy Neuman. "The fight's with Liston were not fixed." If that's not misinformation I don't know what is........
Well -- This thread may or may not be an intentional wind up, but either way, it started me thinking about Ali's era in general. Back then a fighter usually had to actually beat a top ten fighter to get ranked in the top ten. Based on that principle I do not think Haye could cut the mustard. He wouldn't be able to get past guys like Quarry, Bonavena, Chuvalo, et, In other words, in that era David Haye would never make it in to title contention, so questions about an Ali/Haye fight aren't relevant.
Ali W10, 12 or 15, clearly! It isn't out of the realm of possibility that Ali would stop him either. I actually give Haye a lot of credit for his abiltity.
Ali had a monstrous chin behind the pretty boy looks. That is the massive difference between him and Haye. I don't think Haye could hurt him, at all... So Ali by KO around 9 or 10 rounds, once Haye slows down a tiny bit and stops running.
Haye would kill Ali. Nigel Benn would **** all over the Super 6 and Joe Calzaghe is the greatest fighter who ever lived. Happy now?
For his time Ali was a tall heavy of then of @ 6 foot 3, with a huge reach of 81-82 inches. That allowed him to lean back. Lyle was beating Ali when Ali KO'ed him in one of the last rounds. Ali had a very fast but not punishing jab....he liked twisting his fist at the end of it to rip eyes. Ali was a great man at clinching. Had Shavers not bought clown shaking legs, and came in to finish what one punch or flurry of punches would have done. Ali would have been down...perhaps out. Shavers was not 'fast'. No Ali would win a 15 round fight by Decision, because he ran back wards better than Haye and it's the contender who would have to make the fight....not Ali. The old man (36) healthy Patterson of the second fight, shows Ali can run backwards so fast he's awkward, when he had to. Patterson had a bad back the first fight, and fought straight and stiff...too proud to call off the fight.... Haye would have to run forward three steps .... starting from so far back to catch Ali...and guys starting two steps back couldn't do that. Ali wins, a very boring fight. **** 3 seconds...now Flash was in his corner...to, walk back to the dressing room find a spare glove, to walk back, to take off a glove, to lace up the new glove???????? Be real...they cut the boring waiting out of the tape.
