The veiw I take with long term results is that they are only important if you can show your at the same kind of level you were when you achieved them.

Shogun showed me he's the same or a better fighter than the guy who picked up those wins in Pride recently rather than the guy who gassed after 5 mins vs Coleman and Forrest. My feeling is that Fedor is also on the same level he was but I'd want to see that prooven in the cage first.

So 1 wins could see Fedor climb very near to the top of the list due to that history while someone like Cain would need to proove more to climb that high.

anderson silva has fought tough competition in and out of the ocagon, if he never joined the ufc ranks he would still would have found sucsess most likely perhaps even more than he has now.

How many Canadians has he faced? Practically all of his fights are international affairs. The last two fighters he faced were from different continents.

  4. :patsch:patsch

    17 Americans (including one upcoming)
    3 Canadians
    1 British
    1 Brazilian
    1 Armenian

91% from the Americas (north and south) and 74% from the good ol US of A.

    you mean with this part?

"he would still would have found sucsess, most likely. perhaps even more than he has now."

I just think that even without the ufc hype machine behind him (which I know was basically to take the spotlight off fedor at the time) he could reasonably acheived great things outside the ufc.

    He has the skills.

gsp could have as well, with his amazing talents. But you know we can never say for sure because of the contained nature of the ufc is hard to say with complete certainty.

  8. Hahaha is that your best come back after being owned?:nut:nut

  9. How would that be? after all Fedor who is a HW (usually seen as the pinnacle) with more fights and less losses isnt as highly hyped up simple because he refuses to fight in the UFC. The UFC hype machine can make an average fighter seem the absolute best.......Brock Lesnar, Randy Couture and Carwin are some of my examples.

Also Anderson Silva lost 4 fights outside the UFC, if he continued fighting outside the UFC then his record would most likely be worse than what it is now.

Interesting point of veiw, Im sure many people agree with what you said.

But if you believe that, how do you see anderson fairing against these fighters outside the ufc?

    Gegard mousasi
    Hector Lambard
    Melvin Manhoef
    Ronaldo Jacare Souza
    Dan Henderson
    Jorge Santiago
    Cung Le
    Jake sheilds
    Jason Mayhem Miller
    Robbie Lawler
    Murilo Bustamante
    Matt Lindland
    Kazuo Misaki
    Murilo Rua
    Vitor Belfort
    Yoshihiro Akiyama
    Dennis Kang

    and.... Kazushi sakuraba

He could have gained more fame by facing roy jones, and/or fighting in k-1, this could have made him more popular than fedor if he had succsess.

Name a legitimate contender at 185 who deserves an MMA fight with Silva that has a proven K-1 or Muay Thai record?

There are none; the closest is Manhoef who is clearly not on the same level as Anderson Silva as an MMA fight.

  13. Check it up yourself.

  14. Who knows but I see some of those fighters getting the better of him including Gegard.

So you don't have an answer then.

Who exactly are you talking about when you say he should have been fighting other fighters; name names.
