I think Tex the hardest chin in the game might wear AJ down! Too tired to keep swinging & landing, Tex might stop him late. Norton who isn't a pillow puncher is clocking him easily...yet he is getting tired just landing. Remember this is the same guy who could go 15 rounds with Holmes & Ali. This content is protected & Shavers known as a lethal puncher hit Cobb flush, but couldn't finish him. This content is protected I think all the skills he has wouldn't be enough. Aj wins 8 rounds in a row, tires out, manages to clinch 9,10. 11 he becomes a punching bag. Gets stopped 2 minutes into the 12th. Laying on the canvas unable to rise, not due to pain, but sheer fatigue.
Joshua wrecks Cobb. Defending AJ's punches with your face is a short cut to eating through a straw and relearning the alphabet. Edit: Watch the Shavers fight. Shavers misses with the looping stuff and connects most often with the straight punches. Joshua is a good straight puncher.
40 yrs ago Joshua would pound Cobb for 5rds get winded around the 5th, ( his normal) Cobb would began to score often, Joshua quits in his corner 9th 10th rd. Today's game Joshua wins because ref would stop the fight after a couple one sided pounding.
Joshua would beat Cobb. While he is rightly at a low ebb, we should not forget his previous body of work. It might end up looking a bit like the Takem fight.
Yes. If he does nothing else, In time people will appreciate joshuas run Until now. It’s a better body of work than given credit for. Povetkin and Wlad were two of the most dominant heavyweights of the last 10 years and Joshua stopped both. From what was around you can’t do much better than what AJ did so far.
I think that AJ could outpoint Randall Tex Cobb, Larry Holmes used Cobb's face for target practice on Nov 26 1982, winning a unanimous decision. I believe that Joshua would do the same to Cobb.
Joshua has a good jab but it isn't nearly as good as Larry's. He'd beat Cobb but not the way Larry did. He'd bust hin up the first few rounds staying at range and using his heavy handed upright Orthodox techniques. Around the 6th-8th it would become an ugly mud fight. Both men gassed and leaning on each other, throwing less than 20 punches per round. Cobb rallies in the 10th and 11th and puts Joshua on the canvas. Joshua shows tremendous heart and in the 12th kets everything go and hammers Cobb with sledgehammer 1-2's and uppercuts. Joshua wins a very close decision that would have been clearer had he focused more on cardio than physical strength.
You neglected to mention both Povetkin and Wlad were absolutely shot and Joshua went life and death with the latter while in his prime!
That maybe so but nobody else around was doing it. Wilder never stepped up to fight at that level. Wilder could not beat the comeback version of Fury. AJ also beat Parker. He was willing to face more of the leading heavyweights.
The jury on this one is out until Joshua proves he can compete with the Cobb’s and Wepner’s of the game.
