Only for UD imo. Neither Thor with the hammer would have knock Cobb, Chuvalo and McCall down.

You are all selling Randall Tex Cobb short.....
Yes he fought 15 rounds with Larry Holmes & got beaten bad
BUT Did you know that when the bell for the end of the fight sounded Tex turned to the ref Steve Crosson & said "Give me 3 more rounds & I'll knock Larry out & I'll be champ he cannot hit me any more his hands hurt him too much". Well I met Steve Crosson at a black tie affair a few years ago in Dallas. I asked him about it & he verified it happened just as Tex had said. He said Tex was dead serious too
Tex also said Larry never really hurt him in that fight enough to ever think about quitting. But Earnie Shavers shook him from head to toe with every big shot. Tex came back to the corner & his cornerman said " Dont worry Tex he isnt hitting & hurting you" Tex answered with a typical Tex quip " Well in that case you better keep an eye on that goddamn ref then cause somebody in there is "
There was only one Tex Cobb toughest Son of a gun I ever met

    lol!

I listened to him make a few of those comments when he roasted Holmes. I'd rank it as a top 5 GOAT Roast.

Joshua was quite a big thing and now he is literally nothing overnight. Oh how one loss can change perception so dramatically. I don't see Cobb beating Joshua any which way. Tex would not put enough pressure on to gas him out.

I stand by it. Wladimir was 41 years old. Hadn't fought in 2 years. Noticably rusty. His timing was off. He was a shell.

The reason nobody else was doing it was because Wlad hadn't fought in 2 years, when he lost to Fury (so much for nobody else doing it) and hasn't fought since!

Povetkin then? Who else was knocking out povetkin? He had been active the whole time and fought a lot of top guys.

Wlad was a passing of the torch win for him. Sure he’d been out and was old but it’s a big name on the resume.

Povetkin, Parker And Wlad are pretty much the best names of the period.

I don’t class Wilder as any kind of champion at all. His belt descends from a vacant title fight between two guys who were not world class. Vacant titles should be decided over the best two in the world. And it wasn’t. Stiverne and chris Arreola? Beating the winner of that a champion does not make.

Wilder has yet to beat a champion.

I don't think that is quite fair to say though given that both Wilder and Fury both actively sought a fight with Joshua, who seemed to try and ignore they existed when it came time to make the fights. Out of the 3 big dogs of the division, Wilder and Fury have been the most active in pushing for the big fights and Joshua was most content to be on the side claiming to be the real champ. It ended up back firing on him and now he has to beat Ruiz or face an even more enormous standing setback.

Joshua would probably beat Cobb, but it would be rougher than a lot would expect. Cobb gave Dokes and Norton tought fights and managed to extend Larry Holmes the 15 round distance when only one other during his reign at that point did it. I'm not sold on Joshua. He's robotic, gasses, and is robotic. Cobb would be coming on in a losing effort later in the fight as Joshua gassed and his punch output diminished. He's not slick enough to avoid Cobb for long, but Cobb isn't strong enough or good enough to capitalize on Joshua's short comings as a fighter.

Ok, I made my one "F"- with AJ Post.
I don't think Tex can outbox him in any era. But I think what Ruiz did to win wasn't based on skill, rather toughness.
Tough enough to rise from the KD. And didn't really use any certain punches, he just went into animal mode and fought his way to a win.
Tough is the only trait Cob has LOL!

I would favor Cobb over the pre-Manny Stewart version of Wlad. I would favor 41 year old Wlad over Cobb but Cobb would be a very live underdog.

That is a good point. And well worth making. Those guys did press AJ for fights. However I guess they certainly had to since AJ beating Wlad and then Parker technically put him in the driving seat. I guess politics aside the fighters themselves always would want to fight each other. At least Fury and Wilder did fight each other but then Joshua and Parker also did fight each other.

I think it is a fair conclusion to suggest that Fury is a real champion who has never lost in the ring. But that is not to say AJ in Fury’s absence had not beat everyone he could.

Wilder calling AJ out is fine but his claim to champion does descend from a very bogus pairing. In this sense wilder is no more than a strong challenger pressing for a title fight. He got one with Fury and did not win it. He didn’t get one with AJ but it dosnt matter now.

I accept Wilder is keen to fight everyone.

Hopefully Fury or Ruiz do get the opportunity to fight Wilder. But unless he beats either of them in a ring Wilder can never be a champion.

The top men are Fury and Ruiz. Nobody else is really in the equation.
