At 160 Pavlik is "The Bull of the Woods." There is no current middleweight who could go toe to toe with him, or win a war of attrition. In a head on collision at 160 Pavlik will win inside 9 rounds everytime out.

You have to out box Pavlik while avoiding his power. If that was easy to do, McKart and Taylor would have beat him.

As Cubex mentioned there are some young guns coming up who look good. If KP stays at 160, the haters will have to pin their hopes on one of the rising prospects.

A few mentioned Winky on this thread. I think Pavlik/Wright is way past its expiration date. Winky turned Pavlik down 4-5 times. After losing badly to the 4th or 5th best welterweight Winky is irrelevant at middleweight.

Nobody said Winky would beat Pavlik. The question was who could take Pavlik's power.

Angulo would win in a war vs Pavlik.

When has AA ever stood "toe-to-toe" with anyone? The guy's got great power and the heart of a lion, no doubt; but he goes into his shell whenever someone applies pressure.

I think Winky can give Pvlik a war similar to his fight vs Taylor. Winky gave Paul Williams alot of trouble but could not win rounds because of paul's high output Winky still has a great D an amazing chin and accurate sharp punching. I watched Gevor Sturm today and they are two of the best guys at the division and both look tailor made for Kelly. Gevor comes in stright a head with little pop and bad defense Kelly would rip him apart kinda like his Zertuche fight. Sturm backs straight up keeps his hands high and tended to let Gevor beat on him and sat on the ropes alot. If Kelly backs you straight up and has no punches coming his direction he walks all over you. Sturm has fast hands and can be difficult but he is not active enough. Kelly beats Sylvester, Marquez, the south american guy marquez beat in the eliminator, i think he beats mundine and asaikin as well.

I think this thread misses the point a little. Pavlik isn't really a one-punch KO fighter. The more appropriate question is: Could anybody sit and duke it out with KP at 160 right now? The answer is: No.

i've never understood why taylor would want the rematch clause to be above the mw limit. i know he was angling to move up but knowing that he wouldnt be fighting for the belts in a potential rematch is kinda puzzling.

anyhow...yeah its being anal but come on, its a hell of an accomplishment. not a whole lot of belt holders can say that every fight in their division has ended by stoppage...every one (technically :D)

I knew that post was going to be misinterpreted. I'm not saying that AA can't fight tough or take a shot or deal with adversity or whatever. I'm saying that he generally responds to pressure by going into his shell and ocassionally coming out to counter-punch. That's not really what I'd call "going toe-to-toe". He fought in spurts against Miranda just like he usually does.

Pavlik hurt JT to the body in the second fight and thinks he could have taken him out with a little more time and it was above MW.
