Could any other lightweight fighter match Duran by moving all the way to 160 and win a world title?

I can see Floyd giving Hagler a good fight and outpointing Barkley (not dropping him, though). Hard to say for sure since Floyd didn't face anyone with the height and reach of Iran, but stylistically I think he is otherwise pretty well suited for Floyd.

SRR is an obvious, but he fought only briefly at LW. He beat the then current world champion though, so he was clearly a world class LW.

I believe Napoles started at LW as well, and might be a candidate

Good one. He was a lot better Middle than he was a lightweight but he could have possibly won a strap against the right guys at 135.

What was Duran's walk around weight? I'm sure he was like 200 lbs.

It is a good accomplishment, although I have told people who don't seem to believe me that I thought Duran would win that. He had a lot of chances to win titles. he lost to Benitez in 1982 and then beat Moore. he lost to Hagler but beat Barkley. Barkley was within punching range and even though Barkley hit hard, Duran got under many of his punches which were not fast. And Duran was in range. He was not in range of Hearns and Leonard or Benitez so he lost. But in fights he was in range, he could win. Hagler fought him in range and Duran got hit a little but he lost. Hagler should have put on more pressure and he would have stopped him. So he beat the second tier level in Barkley. it is good but his second chance it makes it more possible. If you eliminated the Hearns win, Barkley's career was not stellar. He lost to Kalambay and Sims and was pretty much an undercard or ESPN fighter.

Henry Armstrong did this before Duran. He won a title at '26 '35 '47 and yes at '60. He was making a mockery of the sport so they couldnt allow him to come home with the belt. He beat Garcia.

That wasn`t healthy weight at that height at all, he used to balloon up because of rich living, it messed him up before 'no mas' as he killed his body after shedding tons of weight in a small space of time.

Do you Armstrong could have gone toe to toe with Hagler and Barkley though? Did Garcia punch as hard as those two Hearns bashers?

have you guys seen the staredown between Duran and Hagler. Duran looks almost the same height and big enough compared to Hagler. Just on that, I never thought he was this little guy.. Matchups are an odd thing. It is simple, but Duran was not that small. Hearns didn't beat up a little Duran, he beat up a Duran whom he had a longer reach than,, but Duran this little man? I don't think so.

Hagler`s body was much more musculer than Duran`s and his biceps were big, Duran`s belly had padding on it compared his trim build at lightweight and welter, he was faster at te lower weights.

He still looked big enough compared to Hagler than most would think.
