That's the version that came to mind for me too. His work on the inside was punishing, and Ward can get a bit slappy on the inside. The Trinidad version would also win IMO. Ward wouldn't be able to ambush Hopkins with his movement. He'd always give a good fight given his speed and explosiveness but BHop would read his feints and time his rushes.
Any version 2004 and up would likely lose. The Tarver, Wright, and Pavlik versions would make it really ugly and competitive, but any version post-Pavlik gets beaten very decisively. In his current form, Ward probably doesn't lose a single round.
Definitely the younger Hopkins. I am talking probably 34-40 years of age. Fighting Ward at 168, he would have carried more power into the ring as well. And while Ward has speed and quickness, his handspeed isn't as good as Young Robert Allen's or Jone Jr.s, and Hopkins also wouldn't have a problem with Wards power.
