Could anybody beat prime Ali? If not, who comes the closest.

And who has made any noise about this being a great opponent?

But please be the 200th poster to claim the very obvious that he was "literally shot", just be clear that you're preaching to the choir.

So? Folley was a good contender, not an ATG - and who has claimed anything else? A smart fighter with very good technique. Of course he had losses, how many contenders regularly facing other contenders hasn't?

But he wasn't "shot as ****" and you know it. That was just you trolling while calling others trolls.

And few facts are more rehashed than the shape of Williams in that fight. It's just that many still think Ali looked great, but his greatness surely isn't based solely on that fight. Among many other things it's more based on beating Frazier 2 out of 3 while being past his prime.

As said in the prior posting Frank, even Lyle disagreed with you on the fight and his being hurt. I saw the fight live and don't think you have any real knowledge about the game or about what takes place in the ring.

Ken, he spent little time in the gym during those years although he did spar with Marciano for the computer super fight (Ali said even though the Rock wore 16 ounce gloves his ribs hurt for days after). Heavyweights often hit their peaks in their mid twenties and going through the Bonavena fight where he stood flat footed for 15 rounds most of us wondered if he was just rusty or overall slowed down. His lack of former movement continued in Frazier 1 and Ali said his legs just weren't there anymore as before. In Frazier 2 there was a big change as he was on his toes for all 12 rounds and Ali said in the gym they just started being able to do some of what they were able to in the 60's again. There were still differences and you can see them if you compare Frazier 2 and the Folley and William's bouts.

I believe in results and that primes must be proven. Ali's best results were in the 70's. That may or may not have been his physical prime but it was his boxing prime.

And Folley was shot to ****.

Senor Pepe has been gone a few years now and its been suggested he passed on. Frank is just Frank but lately he's become abit overboard.

I think 2 or 3 people could do it, but it would be more a matter of styles than that they were better fighters. Joe Louis and Larry Holmes are right there with him in terms of skill, so they have the best chances.

Louis. Frazier. Holmes. Tyson. Bowe. These 5 have the best chance, maybe throw Lennox in there as well. But the one that I favor over Ali g be an '88 Tyson.

Holmes, Lewis and the K bros have the chance at beating prime Ali.

 one thing lost in holmes-ali match is that holmes had no answer when ali danced he had to wait for ali to get off his feet to land some shots this would be his undoing against ali,
Lewis never faced somebody as quick, durable and highly talented and skilled as Ali in all his amateur and pro career.

In a 12 round fight, I favor Ali to win by close but unanimous decision with margins of between four and two points on the official scorecards.

In a 15 round fight, I favor Ali to stop Lewis between the 13th and 15th rounds.
