Could anyone at 160 have used the Hearns plan and beaten Hagler with it?

Hearns wasn't mindless, but it was as aggressive an approach as he could have adopted, basically. Hagler weathers the storm then closes the show. But is there anyone in the history of 160 who could have utilised this plan and won the day against Marvin?

No way could Roy Jones go toe to toe like that with Marvin. He'd have been sparked right out.

Hagler was something else that night, he fought like a man posessed.

If someone was going to go the hammer like that vs Hagler they would have to have a top chin and more stamina than Hagler for starters. Greb and Walker come to mind but it's just so hard to get a good grasp on them given little film and their era. On paper they seem a good show but whether it would turn out that way nobody on earth could really know.

Good call. Not a huge hitter but his iron jaw and superb stamina would make it interesting with both possibly tiring early.

I think after four rounds of trading, Marvin would elect to keep behind the jab- and move. It's his best hope of victory. Tiger could box too of course, as he shown vs Torres.

You know who I think fits the bill? Stanley Ketchel. Top chin, top stamina, top power. I'd still pick Hagler based on skill, but if any middleweight could go in and win a war against Hagler, I think Ketchel would have the best chance.

Without getting in the age old debate or dissecting the guy, i really don't think Ketchel had the skills to compete with Hagler. I could be wrong. He was a great fighter in his day.

Interesting to see GMAN-Hagler, havent seen that match up done before, the iron jaw versus the biggest MW hitter ever. Hagler late if that happens
