i think he's just implying that most of his stoppages were bought. some were premature perhaps but i doubt there were shennanigans going on and to be honest, most of what i've seen the end wasn't far anyway even in those quick stoppages

certain stoppages that come to mind that maybe can be construed to be premature from memory:

Byron Mitchell - and I'm being kind here, Calzaghe, after being knocked down for the 1st time his career got up and straight away floored Mitchell. Calzaghe then proceeded to land about 30 unanswered punches knocking Mitchell into the ropes, he was staggering badly. He could have got a standing count.

Peter Manfredo - ok it was that **** O'Connor as the ref, but he did tell Manfredo to start punching, the only problem I had with it was Calzaghe was throwing punches that weren't landing but Manfredo was content to duck and stay there. Even Leonard stated that Manfredo would have been stopped.

manfredo was the big one and there was a stoppage earlier in calzaghe's career (i wanna say veit but...) that was stopped just a bit before a proper knockout would have occured. it seemed quick as the fella didn't look hurt but calzaghe was going in for the kill. either way, he kills with volume not power and those kinds of stoppages always get some kind of grief

he would be favored against anyone but all it takes is one decent shot and he will be ko'd...when he stepped up after YEARS of mandos and clowing around he got KTFO...still tuf to beat though in his prime

how the **** does leonard know??? manfrdo has been nothing short of a warrior his whole LIFE....he threw 50 slaps and didn't even mess his hair up....of course JC would have won but that was a bull**** stoppage....it is a world title fight not a golden gloves novice title!
