Patterson's combination of speed and power would also give Jones hell and maybe even beat him.

hmmm, didn't even think about patterson. cooper still says he had the fastest hands he ever faced. patterson's chin wasn't even as bad as made out. could be a hell of a fight

calzaghe beats jones prime for prime at super mid. you can even have the fight in america, with an american ref, and 3 american judges. calzaghe has roys number.

i have to respectfully disagree and i really hope this thread doesn't go down this road. there will NEVER be a consensus on who would have won. doesn't matter: calzaghe beat the corpse of a guy that looked like roy jones and seems good enough for him. good on him, he can even do his little dances to if he feels like it

  6. Antonio Tarver beat him the first fight but was robbed. Jones was still P4P #1 at the time. Who cares about the heavyweight drop.

if you REALLY love tarver he won 5 rounds of that fight. if you're objective he won 4. honestly, scorecards should be brought out for that one as tarver threw away TOOOO many rounds. he could have won if he didn't lay down for half the fight and let jones steal rounds and then get schooled for the last two

Yes, you're right. It's unfortunate that he doesn't get mentioned more often.

Id gice Spinx,Foster,Moore, and Ezzard Charles good chances with him....not saying they would have beat him or he them but they would have given him a tough nights work......Roy was great but being a career long fan of his the allegation of him with roids and him coming up dirty have made me think a little less of his accomplishments.........

the steroid stuff sucks but i reconcile myself with the fact that it was over the counter crap, for one fight and there's no way he knew it was banned. it was actually steroids from what i've read just a banned stuff that you and i could get anywhere

yeah, you have a good point. it does matter, even the possibility that he cheat, knowlingly or not. it's that little asterix on his resume. damn you roy jones! being a fan of yours sucks sometimes

Some of you are showing you do not know your Boxing history. There are several fighters at 175 that would not only beat Jones but knock him out.

The disrespect and ignorance in this thread is sickening.

I will leave it at that. I bet many of you posting in this thread are 18 years old and pimply faced.

    you're not wrong rico

at 175 jones rates head to head as ONE of the 10 best but that's it.

i'd say charles, spinks, should be favoured, possibly foster as well

dwight qwai, tunney, harold johnson, galindez, could be even money

conteh, matthew saad muhammed, burley, and moore had very reasonable shots

at 175 he's amazing but not unbeatable.

oh and calzaghe should never even be in the discussion
