Throwing him right in with the pound for pound great of our times?

I'd start by challenging a local level pro

If I got the right type of training and was able to devote myself to it like I would a job for 6-12 months, I wouldn't mind getting in with Jake Paul. Then again, he's no prime Michael Spinks

I wish we could transport 1981 Michael Spinks to 2025 and have him get in the ring with Jake Paul.

A friend of mine trained 5 days a week for 2 months with a former bantamweight title contender. My friend weighed 225 pounds and was 25 years old when they put him in with a 15 year old 154 pound kid with 40 amateur fights. When my friend told me he wanted to learn to box, I told him that, since he didn't know anything and was starting late, he should learn as a southpaw; he would be using his right hand to jab and hook, etc...
He told me later that he believed that being a southpaw saved his life that day because the 15 year old, after lighting him up for 3 rounds, said that he was hard to fight because he was his first southpaw.

That's not how most boxers train. Start in an amateur gym, get technical pointers, do 6 miles of roadwork in the mornings if you can. Get some light sparring and get tips on bag work. Get a first local amateur bout 4 weeks down the road.

Ideally though boxers need to learn the technique and develop the muscle memory as children or teens at least. There are some exceptions. Vitali moved from kickboxing to boxing quite late, hence he's unorthodox. But he at least had that background. Nigel Benn started at 19 but was always a brawler. Chisora I think started later.

But talking about a random guy fighting 1 of the best ever with no experience and only a years training is pure madness. I mean you wouldn't expect to be able to be the best engineer in the world from a years training would you? I don't think someone as gifted as the genius that is Magnus Carlson would be able to be a chess grand master if he only played chess for a year despite him being maybe the best ever after a life times journey. Yet you expect some random to be the best ever boxer, with no experience and a years training? Rocky movies have allot to answer for

I don't think that many people understand how hard you have to work to get to the point where guys on an internet forum think that they can beat you up.
Wasn't it Bruce 'The Mouse' Strauss that said that just because he was the worst pro fighter in the world didn't mean that he couldn't fight?

Yeah but what if he was very athletic and genetically gifted. Couldn't their be 1 exception in the world that could train for a year and beat Michael Spinks?

I was joking but sure. Although I have sparred before, although I do want to get back to sparring a few times a week.

Respectfully the original poster doesn't appreciate the winnowing process to be a champion in any sport.

It would surely take 3 or 4 months to beat someone as good as Michael Spinks, maybe even as long as 6. At the 1 to 2 month mark you'd only be beating Marvin Johnson/Yaqui Lopez level.
