Stop trying to divert so much BTW I already said I’m done talking about GF with you bud, you won’t shift no point, I said my piece we moved to general “Ring Rust” the “Leonard situation” - AGAIN So you agree Leonard sparred hard for Hagler? :sisi1 You’ve described hard sparring but you just keep insisting it was a “fight” I’ve already explained this to you… ALSO we aren’t talking about Ali’s exile lol stay on track but I can see you’re looking for an out on the “Leonard had secret fights” statement… Puggie Ellis employed Ali as a sparring partner in 69 Bugner did the same just google it  it’s not hard “Oh but, but what about…” shhh he sparred in exile FACT it was known and it is proven in both statements and photos leave it you’ve been got it’s also another long @$$ discussion with you I can’t be bothered with… What makes something a “secret fight” and not a hard spar Pug? What is so different to it and the kind of hard sparring modern pros / guys knocking the rust off do instead of fighting Johnny Paycheck? You don’t think guys foul in the gym? You don’t think when you’re sparring intensely it isn’t trying to “win” the round? You don’t think there is a “ref” around to control the action? Break it down and try to be sort of specific to Leonard not your “interpretation” what did he do different?

Next time you are on there, take a look at Rocky Marciano's secret fights. He took undefeated to a whole new level! Eat your heart out Floyd Mayweather! Floyd's 50-0 is small potatoes.

I tagged two coaches we are lucky to have to critique my take on a boxing subject in an open boxing discussion? (BTW) Both of them largely agree with me… I also put a bit of effort in trying explain ring rust I just thought @cross_trainer might enjoy it? I’m not sure why that has hit a nerve so badly with you? you don’t think I was trying to deliberately upset you do you? I stopped to think about it and if you think I was being mean spirited that wasn’t the intention in the initial post.

I actually think Frazier with the power of Hope might do it (FOTC Frazier)

    A complete rants.

I am perfectly fine and it’s patently obvious as to whose nerves have been hit, just read yourself - stop projecting already.

Your points have been surgically addressed at every turn and upon each and every valid refute, you jump out of gear.

I’ve already described the attributes of a fully simulated real fight in the gym - if you can’t comprehend, won’t accept or pretend not to accept the obvious differences, well, obviously that’s your issue not mine and stating that I “agreed”‘with it being the same as a “hard spar” is a willingly false claim on your part.

You’re done talking GF? Hello? The thread IS about GF - and you tried to apply a totally unsupported claim that ring rust isn’t a real thing in order to try and suggest that there was no difference between pre Zaire Foreman to that of the inactive, rusty Foreman who faced Lyle - which has been your primary objective.

Of course Ali is relevant to the discussion in so far as the unsupported concept (no ring rust notwithstanding inactivity) that you have tried to push previously - you’ve tried on same re Ali and his 3.5 exile, thus the relevance.

Just google it? Brilliant. Just google Leonard’s secret fights then. I’ve already given you something…meanwhile you’ve still got nothing but the suggestion to “google it”.

You’re strangely obsessed with Johnny Paychek aren’t you? Note, not “ck”, just “”k” at the end of the name. Just say’n’.

You’re completely lost. Try to stay with the program. Let the replies come naturally instead trying so hard to solicit them. I haven’t read anyone put out so many “call outs” as you do - let ‘em speak for themselves - not you on their behalf.

Again, I haven’t been “got” at ALL but you obviously want to keep telling yourself that’s the case in self affirming mantra like fashion - if you actually believed it you wouldn’t have to keep repeating it to yourself so often, if at all.

Since you haven’t said anything new whatsoever, I can rest on my laurels very comfortably.

Jeffries would have been 240lb with modern nutrition and I'll take that version to outslug Foreman

Thinking Holmes beats Foreman is hardly controversial. Thinking Holmes beats Foreman in a slugfest is insane, as seen by the fact that literally not one other person namedropped him in this thread. To be frank, it's one of the dumbest things I've heard in my life, all due respect. Luckily, Holmes himself wouldn't follow such an idiotic gameplan. He'd laugh you out of the corner, if you suggested "Hey Larry, I know you have this fantastic jab, and amazing skills, but you should slug it out with this guy who's one of the hardest punchers of all time, despite you having average at best power."

...and yet, if it came to it and in the unlikely event it happened...would George simply blow Larry away, or would he empty his tank trying to put down an ATG chin? I think the only difference in our assumptions is you assume George can KO Larry in a firefight, and I assume he can't. I don't think you have to have fight ending power to stop Foreman in a slugging match, ya jist gotta have a better chin and a bigger tank. And Larry has both, in my opinion. You find this analyses dumb, and that's cool man. I on the other hand respect your opinion and your analyses, I just disagree that's all. Take care man, love and peace always, gbn x

Let’s keep it focused from here on out eh?

“The very first time I met Ali was in 1969. I was sent to America to do some sparring with him. We paid him $US10,000 to work out with me.” - Joe Bugner

These are low hanging fruit and took me a grand total of about 10 seconds to find Ali sparred in exile FACT - now answer the questions or I’m done lol.

Angelo Dundee was wearing a referee costume. That's the missing ingredient that turns hard sparring -- which is basically useless -- into a genuine Secret Fight.

“You’re blowing it son!” I wonder how many “secret fights” (very distinctly) different to hard sparring / gym wars Ali and Holmes had under Angelo? On one occasion Roy “Tiger” Williams and Ali sparred two days back to back I think it was 15 rounds? Ali planned on KOIng him but settled for a secret UD… think of how much elevated there records would be if we knew the esoteric truth? Ali would at the least belong to the old school as a guy who fought a contender type multiple times in a week.

It boggles the mind how much useless hard sparring experience could've been used by Ali to actually prepare and improve, if only Dundee had put on a ref costume.

Yes but it’s a double edged sword think of all the bad days at the office he had famously…In a “secret fight” he’d have probably lost to guys like “Blue” Alvin Lewis and his record may take on a more “ugly” old school shape.
