Just as the title suggests, who if anyone, could stand there in front of Tyson (at his peak) trade with him and survive?

Im not talking about the guys who could jab and move about and hold and run for 12 rounds, im talking about guys who could walk up to Tyson and actually stand there and trade with him? Guys like Tua, Frazier and Foreman etc

i started this thread due to the Tua Vs Tyson thread on General, where someone thought Tua could outslug Tyson

I dont think ANYONE could stand in front of Tyson without having there head knocked off. Look at all of his opponents after the Berbick fight.

    They all ran and hugged.
Boncrusher, Thomas, Tubbs, Biggs, Holmes, Tucker....Spinks tried to...

They all obviously knew, standing in front of Tyson is suicide

Yes they probably could Ko him, but could they recieve what Tyson would dish out? because they would obviosuly have to go through Hellfire and brimstone to do it?

Tyson is too mainstream and casual fans know his name, his power is average at best and he is unproven a HW. Any self respecting expert/historian knows this. Dempsey didnt fight blacks because they are overrated and dont deserve title shots.

No way would Johnson be trading with Tyson in a punch out.
He was too smart for that.:nono

What i was tyring to say was that most of his opponents tended to hug or dance for 12 during his reign and not many went forwards and tried to trade with him.

I do feel his power is SLIGHTLY (ever so slightly) overrated, it was his speed and technique and a slight hint of power which bought him his devastating Kos.

Dempsey trading with Tyson is just suicide.

I didnt say he was an unbeatable god or anything, however nobody ever seemed to have any success against Tyson while standing and trading with him. Movers gave him more problems than guys who came forwards

Joe Louis would try to trade with Tyson, and would get decked, in my opinion. Joe didn't have a bad chin, but was dropped by so many lesser punchers throughout his career. Joe also said that he hated to be crowded, which is what Tyson would do; get inside and unleash some bombs. The minute Joe throws a jab, Tyson would duck, hit him in the body with a right, and then come up the middle with the uppercut. Bye, Bye, Mr. Louis. There's a possiblity of Louis landing combinations on Mike as well, but I think Tyson would be too much. Trading with a peak Tyson on the inside would be dangerous for anyone. The guy was too fast and explosive.

I was thinking the same, thats why i think Foreman could do it and possibly Liston and maybe Frazier the longer the fight goes on.

I dont want to commit blasphemy here, but Louis would get knocked out cold and possibly very early too

Joe wouldn't exchange with Tyson. He'd smother and infight him, and keep running him into jabs and uppercuts.

Tyson, Dempsey, and Frazier are Joe's kryptonite though IMO.

There are people who can trade with anybody, and they are not always elite fighters.

I think Frazier would constantly walk onto jabs and uppercuts

I dont think Louis would be around too long against Tyson, just a bad stylistic matchup methinks

    Not sure about Dempsey
