Standing in front of Tyson is suicide. Just ask the guys who beat him

Look at the way he dodges the punches at 02:05

Imagine one of these coming at Tyson while he was doing that:

    From 83-86 Tyson trained 6-10 hours a day 7 days a week 365.
    Nuff said.

    People are dumb.

No fighter in history could trade with Tyson.

Well... actually they could but it would be a very bad idea.

I doubt that any one of Riddick Bowe's punching power , punch resistance , explosiveness was superior to Tyson's .
I also don't find Holyfield's stoppage over Bert Cooper legitimate.

If a prime David Tua landed on Frazier what he landed on John Ruiz or Darroll Wilson then Frazier would have been counted out.

Funny,I could have sworn George Foreman - the first and only puncher Frazier fought in his entire professional career - did just that.:patsch

Actually, nevermind.I know exactly where you're coming from here. The only reason Foreman completely dominated Frazier the way that he did was because Frazier had diminished so greatly by the time Foreman caught him, right?

By the way, where is the evidence of Frazier ever proving himself capable of absorbing the power of a truly big puncher? Because I'm looking at Frazier's resume, and there seems to be a noticable lack of punchers on that resume.

Interesting thread this, there are some good posts and some intriguing one's that can't be proved either way. I think there's plenty of guys out there throughout history that would have been willing to trade with a peak Tyson but it's debatable how long the fights would have lasted. Dempsey and Tyson would have both tried to end it quick, to be honest I couldn't see this fight going past three rounds, first guy to go down would be the loser in my opinin.

I think Foreman and Frazier would have been able to trade with him and cope with his power. I could actually see Frazier beating Tyson, I think Tyson could try to hard ealry on and punch himself out and Frazier might get a late stoppage. Not sure what way a Foreman fight would go, I think both fighters would be capable of winning.

A previous poster mentioned that there are fighters that could have traded with him that mightn't have been the best in the division and I'd tend to agree. A fighter like James Braddock might happen to fare better against Tyson than an ATG and a quick glance at some of the names who beat Tyson show that it's not necessarily the most talented fighters that do best against him.

I think there are fighters who could, but not necessarily win. I think Mcall could do it. He did it in the gym all the time. Jose Ribalta traded with Tyson and got the worse of it, but he traded with him for 9 or so rounds. Sometimes guys show up at fights and show a tremendous ability to take punches, even guys who had been knocked out previously by lessor punchers, Ribalta being case in point.
