Could anyone who ever fought at 130-140 have stopped Chavez?

The answer is simply "no". I don't think anybody in that weight range could stop a prime Chavez.

I would give Pryor and Tzyzu the best chance, but neither of them can pull it off.

I would love to have seen Alexis Arguello vs. Chavez at 130 or 135, yet since it took Arguello 13 to stop Mancini, then probably even Arguello could not stop Chavez. But that would be the guy I think might be able to stop Chavez-more chance at 130.

Arguello and Duran would have the best chance and I still don't see them pulling it off. Chavez had a chin of reinforced steel.

I certainly wouldn't favor anyone to do the deed.

Ike Williams and Arguello would stand the best chances IMO.

Mosley is a much stronger fighter then Taylor. Mosley would have whooped that head around the ring.

I think the answer is undeniably no. 130 saw some concussive punchers like Arguello, 135 saw Mosley and Duran, and 140 saw Tzyu and Pryor. None of them do it.

Arguello is the only guy I give a realistic chance. Chavez was slightly pre-prime at 130, and over 15 rounds Arguello would have been capable of stopping JCC (his punch power at and around130 was unbelievable)... but ultimately, I don't think he would have managed it.

Duran is my favourite fighter ever and I think he would certainly beat Chavez at any weight, but I do not envisage a stoppage in that fight at all.

Chavez is one of the few guys I think genuinely deserves the title of a granite-chinned fighter.

Zero chance of Mosley stopping Chavez at 135. Edwin Rosario couldn't even dent Chavez. 135 was absolute peak JCC.

    :good Absolutely.

I'm not a big fan of Chavez, I think he was favored very heavily in some of his fights, but he had a truly great chin. It never failed him, even when he was totally shot and should have been watching fights instead of taking part in them.
