Yeah, pretty much. It's fair to say it was cyclical and mostly dependant on the atmosphere and rules used, but yeah all sorts of avoiding, flopping, and ending rounds by throwing or push your opponent down and following him by falling on him. I'd be skeptical of modern boxing having more action though. That's largely a style and personality sort of thing. Game fighters are game fighters and stallers are stallers, the era and rules don't really change that. In my opinion. Dunno what an ogoshi is myself, but Marciano claimed Judo was a great asset for boxing. It'd be pretty interesting to me if Judo and Boxing once shared a technique.
Would be interesting wouldn't be able to throw such hard shots or have to be careful with shot placement or risk breaking your hands. It has carried on for years in the UK with underground fights that sometimes catch the press and public imagination with fighters like Roy shaw and the rest.non boxing types tend to think that BNB is harder than normal boxing which having been hit with both bare fists and gloves isn't true gloves allow more power to be delivered. There is a very good video of Bert Cooper fighting a British bare knuckle fighter whose name escapes me.very funny.
