On the ESB frontpage they have an article claiming Froch can skip the mandatory to unify against Kessler:

15 years ago, Stevenson was imprisoned for pimping and dealing in prostitution. .

Kessler is the ONLY fight anyone wants to see. Everything else is just the same old political bull****.

Anyone else think sometimes the organisations, which we all know have the moral fibre or a degenerate death row inmate, sometimes just say stuff like this about imposing mandatory defences and the importance of this simply to get some air time on the forums and websites?

Why are they making a big deal out of this mandatory defence when we all know they'll allow the Kessler fight to happen? Is it to get a higher sanctioning fee or just to look like they actually think about these things?

My point was with the belt Froch demands a lot more money when he goes to the table with Kessler and when he beats Kessler a world champ can name his price. Froch would be silly to give up the belt. £££

I'm not so sure about that really, does being an IBF champ as opposed to a "regular" WBA champ make that mich difference? Especially as both fighters have held other belts in the past and are recognised top 3 in the division?

I can't see Froch suddenly getting a bigger percentage on the basis that he is IBF champ and I imagine it is a 50/50 split anyway?

Perhaps the american TV Networks would like him to hold the IBF so they can bill the Ward rematch as a unification fight to see who the man in the division is but even that seems silly as they said that about the Super 6 final and we all know who won that already!

Stevenson ain't that much of a threat or banana skin. He may have a punch but he can't take one so you've to question what the real threat is for a guy like Carl.

The threat is that Stevenson would be taking up one of his last fights, but they need to deal with him if they want to keep the IBF

He's the SUPER champ apparently. The basically means that he carries around a different looking belt and doesn't have to defend it, EVER.

Mack and then Stevenson when promised Kessler....its the beginnings of a run that Clev would be proud of.

Think Carl should take this one.Never ducked anybody before, why give some a chance to say he ducked a mandatory. The little I know about Stevenson, this is a really good fight, especially with the back story, not a gimme for Carl.Take the fight then Kessler, both in GB if not Nottingham then maybe retire,a great reputation intact?

Is the Bute rematch 100% off then?

Should he beat Kessler, if Bute triggers the rematch clause if it is still in effect would the IBF then sanction that?

If not he should just fight Stevenson then have one last unification bout with Ward preferably in the UK and just throw the kitchen sink at him and go out on his shield if he is to go out!
