Obviously Canelo wouldn’t step into the ring to find out for sure, but I kinda think he wouldn’t. That’s not a knock to Canelo, but rather Beterbiev looks to be one of those guys whose skills are underestimated because his power is more threatening.
Beterbiev would knock Alvarez out. Canelo is aging and way too small for the division. Beterbiev is powerful and relentless. Artur wins by mid round KO.
In a reality where Beterbiev is a powder-puff, he would still UD Canelo. Need to look no further than how well he moved vs Joe Smith.
No but he would walk down Canelo and beat him up, it would be one of the few fights where Canelo wouldn't be the stronger man or the harder hitter.
I would pay 100 dollars to watch that fight. Perfect style matchup if Beterbiev tries to destroy him and Canelo shows up super sharp with headmovement and counters. Probably ends up with Beterbiev mauling him but would be a glorious few rounds before that
Why doesnt Beterbiev jump up a weight class instead of being the fallback guy for people who want to see smaller guys lose. People just hoping to see guys keep jumping weight until they finally lose. How bout Beterbiev goes up and fights some Cruiserweights, and we can see how far that vaunted power goes.
I have an even better question. Why doesn't Beterbiev have the cojones to fight the other LHW champion?
Why not indeed except that cruiser is even less of a marquee division than is lhw. He'd need to go up to HW to make the money he wants to make. For my part, as the customer, I don't care about any of that, but that's the reason even so.
