    Could? Yes.

    Would? Maybe not.

Douglas certainly has the tools to really bother Vitali and take him outside his comfort zone: a strong long jab, athleticism, lateral movement, a wide variety of punches, a high work rate and combinations, good technical skill, etc. Vitali was used to keeping guys at mid or long range taking advantage of his height, power, and awkwardness against mostly slower, plodding opponents who lack defense.

I think Douglas at his best could pull off an upset, but on paper I'd slightly favor Vitali due to his consistency and endurance.

VK is the favorite, definitely, and you'd maybe want to punt on a parley that saw him winning in 7 or 8 of 10 meetings. Historically this forum has seen this as his match-up to lose, but it's never been considered a whitewash.

The few opponents Vitali ever faced that were as big, strong, and rangy as Buster (so ruling out Arreola with his stubby T-Rex arms) either couldn't match how skillful he could be at his best (thinking Briggs and Charr) - or they could not crack like him (Kingpin).

It's reasonable to believe on some nights he could make a strong argument for himself on the cards.

Once in his entire career. That version of Douglas has a decent chance against Klitschko. Every other version might as well stay in bed.

    I second that.

Tokyo Douglas have the required physical and mental levels to deal with Vitali.

Anhy other version of Douglas has little to no chance.

To be fair, how many of vitali’s opponents are better than Oliver McCall, Trevor berbick, greg page, or Randall cobb.

The closest guy to peak Douglas was Lewis who Vitali lost to , so you are finding a win based on a loss. Thats says you pick who you WANT to win because you ignore the fighting style , size , and jab that caused Vitali to lose that fight.
Vitali has the straight forward Euro style that has always come up short against the fuller , more well rounded Ameri style. So what style clash are you referring to?

Consistency only matter when evaluating p4p greatness , not H2H. Vitali was more consistent because he was more committed and had a far better worth ethic. You can't combine multi different Vitali's to make a super Vitali. There's only the guy who wes consistent against guys who were lesser than Lewis and Byrd.
Buster from Tokyo was visibly better than slow lethargic one foot in retirement Lewis and a weeks notice Byrd who had no gameplan. You would factor in these results if you were a betting man . From the fanboy perspective you ignore it.

    These are fanboy based excuses.

Nobody is truly a Champ until they make at least one defence of the title , which Peter didn't after he beat a past prime Oleg.

Peter was just 11 pounds fatter than he was vs Vitali. But you fail you mention that Chambers was also fat and out of shape. Since Chambers was a 6 foot cruiser , it was more of a disadvantage for him being overweight and fat.
Yet he stood right in front of Peter and out boxed him. Because Peter was washed up after Wlad beat him. All you have to do is review the Vitali fight to see Peter was in a miserable condition , as he was tripping over his own feet and moved like he had sandbags on his arms and legs. The footage doesn't lie. Here ,watch the opponent that convinced many fanboys that Vitali could beat anybody put in front of him , when realty even David Price would flatline that version of Peter.

I’m not even going to waste my time reading this or going down this rabbit hole. You’d pick literally every challenger to beat Vitali in every fantasy fight. Hell you’ve picked Joe Bugner to beat him. Who next ? Bobby Crabtree ? Waste of breath

You can't argue with facts. Simple as that.

What do you mean "Hell you’ve picked Joe Bugner to beat him"

As if Joe Bugner is some type of journeyman? Colin Hart said Bugner would have beaten Lennox Lewis. This is why you are just a bumboy and not a real fan. Rubbishing quality fighters like Bugner to prop up precious Klitschko.

I don't even think Tokyo Douglas would beat Vitali, not that I hold Vitali in truly high regard but stylistically what he did to Tyson, that gameplan, wouldn't work on a much larger opponent.

    Agreed.

This isn't Mike White staring at him during the introductions. It's a gym rat with a unique style and lots of ko's. I really don't think it is a whole lot different than the Donald fight and do not see Buster lasting that long.
