Could Calzaghe go for 50-0 by fighting HOPKINS, DAWSON, WRIGHT and KESSLER??

It won't happen, but if he did pull it off it would do wonders for his resume and make him one of the best ever. Getting by those four fighters would be tough though.

No sorry, they definitely wouldn't say that IF he beat all four and retired 50-0. You are being infantile.

i can see your point to an extent. but you can only fight what is put in front of you. the guy is the best super middle ever. period.
the only question mark against him is could he have moved up in weight earlyer to chase the big fights.
but on the flip side why should he be doing the chasing and crossing the pond when he is the belt holder???
you never saw rjj, or hopkins hopkins banging down his door.
infact the hopkins fight was agreed yrs ago but hopkins pulled out at the last minute and demanded his purse be doubled.
why keep fighting. there is always another up and coming fighter waiting in the wings. when does it stop.

50-0 after beating some excellent fighters over the last few years would be the perfect way to stop.

He is the best supermiddleweight achievement-wise, but the 1994-96 Roy Jones embarrasses any version of Calzaghe h2h.

We could argue all night about whether bigger/better fights could have been made or not, but the fact is they weren't, and his resume won't say on it in 20 years time that "it wasn't Joe's fault", it will simply be a weak resume, a shocking one from 1997-2006 in particular.

And I'm sorry, but when you are the WBO supermiddleweight champion, you do not have the luxury of saying "I'm the champ, come to me" if you want to be considered a great. One paltry WBOgus belt does not give you that right.

i am not saying you would say that but seriously you don't know this board at all from what your saying.
Pbf could come back and beat wlad and some people would still say he was ducking someone.

He could, although I suspect that by the time he gets back to fighting Kessler again, he will have lost a step and possibly some stamina. The clock is ticking against Calzaghe.

You think if Calzaghe, on the back of wins over Lacy, Kessler, and Hopkins, then went on to beat Hopkins again, Kessler again, Wright or G.Johnson AND finally Dawson, and broke Marciano's record to retire with a perfect 50-0, you think even after all that people would still refuse to recognize his quality?

You're being ridiculous. Grow the **** up. That is the attitude of a 6-year-old.

you need to wise up son there are some terrible haters on these boards, no matter what anyone does they have something bad to say. There was a guy the other day saying tyson had a betetr resume than joe louis and was far more skilled and a far better fighter.

    Calzaghe is 36

Only those who desperately want to see his 0 gone away would call him to take 4 more fights. If Calzaghe cares about 50-0, he could well go for 3 tomato cans and 1 genuine contender. For me, if Calzaghe still has the heart to fight, he should take Dawson and thats it.

Calzaghe's legacy is already secured. He will stand alongside RJJ and Hopkins in the ATG list. Whether on top or the bottom amongst these three depends on how Kessler performs in the next few years. As lucky as he is, Calzaghe may stand on top amongst RJJ, Hopkins and him if Kessler dominates SMW and LHW, which is a strong possibility.

10 years from now Calzaghe will be judged by his record and the records of those he defeated. On paper, his record will be even harder to discount and that is what it matters in the end.

Calzaghe will not stand alongside Roy and Bernard in terms of an all-time list. He'll be on it, but not with them.

If he went to 50-0 in the discussed fashion, then he can begin to make that argument.

hold on mate. thats a bit keen isnt it.
people are alowed an opinion even if it does differ from yours.
bare in mind that you think that calzaghe needs hopkins more than hopkins needs him.
now that is just ****ing insane. more of a reason to be called ridiculous dont you think.
