Could Calzaghe go for 50-0 by fighting HOPKINS, DAWSON, WRIGHT and KESSLER??

It's probably gone through his mind to go to 50-0 but it won't happen.

I don't think he has anything to prove and I am pretty sure he will announce his retirement in January.

If Calzaghe got to 50-0, he would get his props aside from a couple of idiots trying to get an argument from Calzaghe fans. This tired old "no matter what he does everyone hates him" routine is just that - a tired old routine. People criticize his resume purely because it is worthy of criticism. Grow up.

    I'll explain:

Hopkins WILL be rated higher than Calzaghe as things stand on any serious major official all-time pound-for-pound list. Whether you like it or whether you agree, that is a fact. Trust me.

If Calzaghe wishes to reverse that, then he NEEDS more big fights, like Hopkins, like Dawson, etc.

Now I always work on the assumption that fighters crave greatness and legacy. If Calzaghe wishes to be considered alongside guys like Jones and Hopkins, he does need fights like Hopkins.

Hopkins doesn't need anything. His legacy and greatness are assured at a higher level than Calzaghe as it is.

He has fought everyone and beaten them all decisively. I thought he won a clear UD over B-Hop despite what inept Judge Byrd scorecard said. I think it was clear B-Hop was looking for rest. He could beat them all again but why risk getting the raw end of a close decision and lose a perfect rercord. The time to retire is when you still have 3-5 fights left...Marciano did it...and Joe has more defences than Marciano but to try and tie or beat his record is pointless....Marciano is Marciano and Calzage is Calzage

Yes, but they are still acclaimed and given immense credit of which they are worthy. Can the routine, it's infantile, seriously.

Strange that you would say that, considering you are clearly part of that 10% judging by your recent posting.

What do you mean here? What are you asking? Isn't it being possible the same as asking whether he could beat all four?

Or do you mean is it actually possible to make all these fights or whether its possible he would do it?

I'm asking whether you think he will go for it, whether you think this is a possibility, or whether you think he will retire now. Obviously whether he could should be discussed, I just didn't want it to be the only topic of discussion between "the huggers and haters".

It's possible if he wants it. All of those fights are easy to make provided he wins the last one, because Calzaghe is the name on everybodys lips right now.

I don't think he'd be considering it. I know a few are close to his nuts, but I think he knows his own mind better than anybody on this forum. He knows whether he has the motivation to go through 4 more hardcore training camps and fight those fights, and from his interviews it doesn't sound like he does.

Physically it looks possible, mentally I suspect not.

Who would you fancy to win if Kessler and Dawson both got a crack at Joe before he retires?

No I think he know he is on the slide and his 0 is very important to him.
While I think he wins all those fights the timescale involved would mean he would have to get past the toughest assignment first.
Kessler imo then Dawson then Hopkins and Wright.

Kessler is prime and Dawson should only get better so any of those in 1+ years means Joe has slid more and has a real possibility to lose his 0.
Hopkins can't treat Joe like he did Pavlik and I think Joe beats him and Wright is weakest of the 4 imo esp if he goes up to LWH for it.

He probably thought a lot of the 50-0 but not against those 4 guys (hence my No at the start). 2 are rematches which makes it even more unlikely.

Nor was that. Your attempt at humour was almost as poor as your attempts at discussing boxing.
