Could Calzaghe have lost a point or been DQ for his dubious showboating?

No way... no one has ever taken a point away from Jones or Mayorga for showboating. Cortez was also aware that the punch was not only unintentional, but also not a big low-blow.

Cortez controlled the situation just fine.

HA that **** was funny after he got Hopkins with the low-blow.
Im sure that reminded Hopkins of the nice showers he took in prison.... ha

I've never seen that done before, Calzaghe crossed a line there and for a moment I thought Cortez was gonna do something about it.

Should Hopkins have lost a point for faking an injury? Would be the better question.

I agree with this. That **** doesn't fly. It would have made the fight a frigging draw on my card though...

Good question. I'm a Calzaghe fan and didn't want him to lose a point but maybe he should have.

We hard-core fans may not appreciate it, but the public loves a showman, and ultimately it's good to have guys like SRL and others doing their thing.

I'm sure Cortez wasn't going to take a point. The only time I'm really bothered by showboating is when a guy is in retreat mode and is talking **** without actually fighting.

The best recent example I can recall of that is Andre Dirrell vs. Curtis Stephens.

Calzaghe was taking it to Hopkins at that point, so hey, go for it. I hated to see him taunt Jeff Lacy, but he had earned the right.
