Could Calzaghe outbox Joe Louis like Billy Conn did?

While this generaly holds true I think that exceptions are possible.

I think Calzaghe can bring a lot of trouble to Louis, but, he has shown to get hurt early in fights. Surviving a knockdown against Hopkins and Jones is different from seeing the end of a round when Joe Louis wants to finish you. If he does get through, i think he can win quite a few rounds, but he'll get caught sooner or later.

Calzaghe is a great fighter in his own right, i dont need to say this as it goes without saying, but he gets knocked cold here imo.

Yep, he has the potential to be a bit puzzling even for Louis for a round or two, but thats it. Best case scenario. A round or two before he goes to sleep.

Jesus H Christ. Does anyone in their right mind think Joe's pitty-pats could keep a destructive heavyweight composite puncher off of him for more than a minute or two? Louis KO1 Calzaghe, and a brutal KO at that. ****ing hell.

calzaghe dosent have the style to outbox louis

calzaghe is a kinda counter puncher/swarmer. billy conn was an out and out boxer/ jab and mover

calzaghe would walk right onto louises straight right and be KOd

Ones one of the greatest Heavyweights ever and the other is a light hitting super middleweight who doesnt as much as outbox but outwork his opponents. Will only gets you so far.

In thirty years, Calzaghe will be rated over Conn. There.

No way Calazghe lasts a 3 full minutes with a prime Joe Louis.

Joe Louis, KO 1, inside 2 minutes.

You people keep recollecting Louis on his BEST night. But that was often not what he brought. Conn I was such a night. Calzaghe might have a chance that night but as fast as he is, he is more a swarmer than a fancy Dan. That's a bad stylistic matchup. Calzaghe has been dropped in the 1st of his last two fights (fights he went on to win comfortably). Were this the case against Louis, there would be no second round. Still, I think Calzaghe will rank as high as Conn if not higher in 20 yrs.

Calzaghe gets blown away in the first round. I can't believe this is a serious thread.
