Yes, he certainly could...not sure about would? I think this is about a 50/50 fight, that could go either way. Forced to choose I would pick the truth but wouldn’t bet a dime (well ok I would bet a dime) on it. Edit: but the again I got good odds and put 20 on him to upset Tyson...not my wisest move
I If Williams could have taken a good punch, he would have beaten Tyson. Because of that reason, I think Max stops him late. Honestly, with a chin, Carl probably had a ttremendous chance of beating 80 to 90% of all the heavyweight champs that ever lived.
If my memory is correct, Williams didn't have a problem with right hand punches, he took them well enough. Because he saw them is my guess. I'm pretty sure that every time he was stopped, or dropped, it was due to the left hook, and at least a few of those happened because he was doing well, got excited, dropped his right and got nailed. Baer was a right hand puncher and had a standup style that I think Williams could work with. Galento, coming in low and winging hooks, has a style more in line with the weaknesses of Williams.
I think your correct in that ,regarding the left hook at least setting him up for a fall .And max was more reliant on the big rights ,so putting that in to the equation ,Williams has a solid enough chance of out pointing Baer.My first initial thought was Max coming through with a meaty right and KO ing him mid way but I'm leaning toward s Carl getting the W .
Carl could have being the one to first beat Tyson if ,as being mentioned ,he'd had a decent set of whiskers. You'd have made a Nice gain if he'd had .
I don't think that was Baer at his best, he was sloppy and clowning around. Wiliams in theory could outjab Maxie and take a decision but his chin wasnt very robust and it would only take one of Baer's right hands to put him on ***** street.
