Could Carl win a rematch?

But is that true though ? By that I mean is it a case of "too good for frampton" or " all wrong for frampton". There is a difference. A bigger higher workrate guy like Josh is always going to give a smaller lower workrate guy like Carl problems. I'd be interested to see how Josh fares with a guy that has similar workrate to himself, like Oscar Valdez. I'm still not totally convinced Josh is all that "good" overall. Although he really impressed me with some of his subtle lateral movement and constantly shifting , circling etc that never allowed Carl to settle and tee off. He is definitely more than just a brainless windmiller, that's for sure. For me however he is still somewhat unproven simply because of the physical advantages he's had over his two "big wins" opponents. . Selby (weight drained halfway to death) and Carl (size reach freshness).

I have to say I'm torn here. Having re-watched their fight Carl didn't do as bad as I thought at the time. He definitely won some rounds when he boxed. But. ..!!! He never used his jab at all. ..(neither did Josh) . So that is one Avenue Carl might have better success with - more jabs. In fact Carl fought virtually one handed. ..almost all his success came with right hands. His left jab got left in the dressing room, and he was very poor with his left hook. Very poor. He swung wide and high with crude left hooks and most missed Josh completely. To have any hope in a rematch Carl would have to be much better with his left hand. Also maybe Carl could do more body punching, again particularly with the left hook.

But I'm not sure Carl can find an answer to Josh's relentless approach. Plus Josh is still gonna be bigger and fresher. It's hard to stick to a game plan if you're being swamped. Carl hit Josh with plenty of hard right hands but never seemed to hurt Josh, or even discourage him... . and in any case they were only single shots, he never followed through with lefts, combos never really worked the body etc etc. He would need to be a lot more two-fisted in any rematch. Re-watching their fight It's hard to pick out Carl having any success with multi-punch combinations....the odd one -two was pretty much the limit of his success. This won't beat Josh warrington.
