I agree. I think people focus too much on his apparent flaws & overlook some deceptive strengths. For example, his punches were wide/looping but not necessarily slow & came @ opponents from a variety of angles. there's a reason he reigned for so long before an ATG finally dethroned him.

These were my 2 favorite fighters at the time they reigned in the 70's. Picking a winner here is liking asking a mother to pick her favorite child. People have mentioned Carlos's great body attack but don't forget he could also plant a KO punch to the whiskers as well ala Dave Boy Green and Ryu Sorimachi, sp?
Both could definitely go the distance, stamina not being a problem. Pipino was overall the more destructive puncher and I can see a case where his blows could mess up Carlos's face and even break a bone.
If Carlos could avoid such damage though, I can see him eventually outlasting Pipino with his own body attack and overall better boxing skills. Sheesh, what a hard fight to pick.
If forced to make a choice, I would probably favor Carlos to outlast Pipino for either a late round staoppage or close decision. Wouldn't bet a plugged nickel on it though.
