What do you think? (Let's assume it's at 175 lbs and that Froch catches Dawson with a monster right, flush on the chin)
He doesn't have one-punch KO power, true. And it would be very unlikely that he could catch Dawson with a huge bomb flush on the chin. But IF he did... unless Dawson's chin was very good, I think Froch has enough power to take him down for the count. Is it very good, or just average (good)?
Dawson has been hurt by a relatively light puncher in Glen Johnson, and was down in his fight with Adamek. While I think he can definitely be hurt, from what I've seen so far he seems to have good recuperative powers. So, Froch would probably floor him, but I'd give Dawson a good chance of beating the count. I doubt that Chad would be caught flush by a Froch 'bomb', though. He's too elusive and Froch isn't particularly fast.
Forget how unlikely a scenario it would be... I said IF... And if you are right and Dawson could beat the count under such extreme (unlikely) circumstances, his chin is good enough (i.e. very good) not to be a limiting factor in his development into an elite fighter.
Well, if you excel in speed, timing, footwork, defense and you pack a decent punch like Dawson, you probably can get away with a just average-to-good chin.
Dawson's chin is shaky but the man can fight dull or not he's skilled. I doubt Froch tags him with his best shot but if so he should beat the count.
Dawson wouldn't even go down. Froch doesn't have big one punch power, at 175 it would be even less so. Dawson would win every round against Froch, and probably stop him on accumulation.
Well, to be fair Adamek weighed 175 in that fight, so my guess is his punches right now are harder than before. Anyway, my point was that while Dawson can be hurt and possibly floored, judging from the way he came back after he got knocked down by Adamek and wobbled by Johnson, it seems to me he has good recuperative powers, therefore an above average chin.
