He has the tools to neglect Mayweather's speed. The jab. And with this long arms and the ability to get out the way, I believe Spinks (other than Cotto) has the best shot at beating him.
Probably not..... He would give him a hard 'fight' though, whether it remotely resembled a fight is another matter
I think Spinks could give Mayrunner a hard time and possible win. He is natually larger proably just as fast and throws more punches and maybe not as accuarte. He is very good on his feet and i think mayrunner would have a proably hittin him. DLH and Hatton were pretty stationary targets.
How the hell did he mostly counterpunch against Gatti when he was landing around 28 punches a round while Gatti was landing about 6? Watch the Corely fight again, Floyd was getting off first alot in that fight, and had Corely backing up alot. As far as his 130 lb. fights, he was the agressor in most of his early fights, but they were against scrubs. However, he was the agressor against Genaro Hernandez, Carlos Hernandez(until he hurt his hand), Justin Juuko, and to some degree, Carlos Gerena.
no he can't beat Floyd, but they will be close to beating Oquendo vs Ruiz in the most boring fight ever
very good post... it would be very close and not dominant in eather direction, but mayweather would do just enough over the middle to late rounds to get the decision. ok, i know im crazy but i wouldnt mind seeing this fight.... it would be good boxing.
As much as I don't appreciate Spinks because of his boring fights . . . Yes, style wise he has the capacity to beat Mayweather. Spinks is bigger, has longer reach and have both hands speed and footspeed, and an exceptional boxer. Power? Don't even talk about power because they both don't have power, but Spinks being naturally heavier should have the advantage.
He was moving backword or they were standing infront of each other ergo not the agressor, for most of the time. The number of punch's landed does not come into who was being the agressor. Hatton was obviously the agressor against Floyd but never landed anywhere near as many punch's. The Corley fight was a bit topsy turvy. But I will rewatch it. Also the agressor is what he was in the Judah fight which looks much different in terms of his tactics than his other fights. I have not seen the 130 fights in a while. So I wont coment on them unless I rewatch them. :good
Getting off first and not going backwards sounds like the agressor to me, but if you don't want to count the Gatti fight then fine. I'll add another fight in its place, Carlos Rios. However, don't try to compare the Gatti fight to the Hatton fight. Floyd outlanded Hatton by about a 2/1 margin, it was around 4/1 against Gatti. The fact of the matter is, Floyd has been the agressor in numerous fights. He would definately be the agressor against Spinks.
