Could Manny Steward's training and gameplan have made a significant impact in how the fight turned out? Maybe Steward would have extensively rehearsed using Cotto's right hand in the gym? Maybe taught him how to clinch better? Do you guys think Cotto having almost 4 month's training camp with Steward would have made a difference?

I think he would have had MORE chance to beat him and in hindsight should have taKen up on he offer but MORE of a chance is different to decisively saying yes with confidence and I wanted Cotto to win because PAC is a beast and roach is a boxing genius when it comes to knowing an opponent IMO

if Stewart turned cotto into a Wlad I.e. Tighten the defence with a good jab - which we know cotto has and was hurting pacman with ASWELL as make cotto more disciplined in his approach then yes

I seriously think cotto must be nuts to hav such a **** corner for that fight

Same result. Trainers are a little overrated. Once the fight got into the war Cotto would have done the same thing.

YES!!! But only if Steward would also be able to fight Pac at the same time and maybe hold him in place so that Cotto could hit him.

pac was too much physically, talent-wise, etc, etc, etc. there was no way cotto was gonna be able to do better than he did on the 14th regardless of any changes to his camp or otherwise.

It would have gave Cotto a better shot at having a competitive fight and not Pac just raming him like a boxing bag.

Cotto could have won the damn fight with manny. he gave himself no chance with joe santiago.when you are goin into the biggest fight in your life you need an experienced corner, manny would have given that.cotto has the tools to be an ATG,but the man just hasnt had the best guidance.i still love cotto for the thrilling fights he has provided us with, but he could be sitting atop of the p4p list with a better/more experienced trainer IMO.

Same result. If i saw Cotto's punches troubling Pac, i'd think twice. But Pac taking all those punches and still continued pressing with almost the same work rate from the start?! Will probably be more competitive the most.

O yea, definitely. with steward, he would have more faith in his jab and good advice in between rounds. exactly what was missing during the fight.

Roach was saying things like: "He [Cotto] can't fight going back." and "Use that shot we practiced in the gym." Real, tactical advice. Santiago either said general comments like "Box smart." (without actually explaining how), "How do you feel?", and "Can you give me one more round?", comments which provide the fighter with very little tactics or adjustments.

He also said: "You see, he [Pacquaio] only has that left. That's all he's got." You mean to tell me he didn't know that Pac has a nasty right hook as well. Btw he floored Hatton and, yea, Cotto as well, with it (1st KD).
