We have debate many time the issue of SRL v. Pryor, did he duck him or not...the issue is that the fight never happend, we got robbed from one of the most exciting fights that the 80's could had happend...the outcome will never be know...sure we could speculate but with certainty we can;t...

Do you think that Cotto vs. PBF could have the same faith as SRL V. Pryor did about 25 years ago..

No, I think the situations are different. Pryor was great, but IMO SRL is seen as ducking him in hindsight. And SRL went on to fight great fighters after that instead of Pryor.

If PBF fights DLH or anyone else except maybe Williams over Cotto, he is not fighting the best fighter in his division. One who holds a belt. He is also not moving on to fight a great fighter instead like SRL did. It is beginning to look like he is ducking Cotto. There is no better fighter around his weight class to fight, so there is no plausible reason to not fight him.

Miguel Cotto’s manager/trainer, Evangelista Cotto, told El Nuevo Dia that a May 3 superfight with Oscar De La Hoya is the preferred fight for the unbeaten Puerto Rican champion.

"Right now a fight with De la Hoya is more marketable than one with Mayweather," said Evangelista, "even though De la Hoya lost to Mayweather in his last fight and Mayweather won last night against Hatton, De La Hoya remains the most marketable....the other names that have been mentioned to fight with Miguel do not compare economically with a fight with De la Hoya."

Cottos crew never had Floyd on target.

He could have fought Cotto instead of Hatton too. And DLH was on the board for both PBF and Cotto. I also know that Arum has been talking about PBF not wanting to fight Cotto since this article was posted. I also believe PBF had already insinuated he wouldn't fight Cotto either before this article.

SRL didn't duck Pryor. Pryor was not a name at the time, and Leonard went on to fight better fighters.

There are no better fighters than Cotto or Williams for Floyd. Yet he decides to fight an old, past his prime fighter that he's already beaten. What the hell does that prove?

Why if the fight doesn't happen it means that Mayweather ducked Cotto? :huh

I mean...Cotto is the one fighting Alfonzo ****in Gomez.

Cotto -also- needs to fight Mayweather.

Isn't that because PBF and DLH are off the table? I thought Arum was asking about PBF before the DLH fight, and PBF ignored it? Am I wrong? I know Arum has been talking about PBF being scared of Cotto for a while. Cotto needs to fight PBF as well, but if Arum calls him out, and PBF keeps ignoring it.....

Arum can say a lot of things.

Remember they were making plans for Cotto's next fight BEFORE Mayweather-Hatton.

Also remember what Evangelista Cotto said: "Right now a fight with De la Hoya is more marketable than one with Mayweather, even though De la Hoya lost to Mayweather in his last fight and Mayweather won last night against Hatton, De La Hoya remains the most marketable....the other names that have been mentioned to fight with Miguel do not compare economically with a fight with De la Hoya."

Cottos team stated they wanted DLH even though DLH lost and Mayweather won against Hatton.

Cottos team wants money, Arum wants money, they will push this fight away until it makes a superior amount of money.

PBF already got paid fighting him. Cotto was looking to do the same. Hadn't PBF already said he wasn't interested before the Hatton fight?

Cotto fighting DLH is a bit different IMO than PBF fighting DLH AGAIN. Just my opinion.

He's never fought De La Hoya and it would be a huge payday for him. A win over De La Hoya would catapult him into true superstardom. Floyd has already beaten De La Hoya, convincingly too I might add. He made his money - no need to fight him again.
