Should multiple belt holder and lineal champ Dariusz Michalczewski have decided to make the trip across the Atlantic to Vegas to face Roy Jones, do you think he could of close fight on the cards?
I think Jones would have beaten him cleanly at that time anyway but had it been a close fight or Michaelowski pipped it then Jones would have got the nod. It's similar to why we never got fights between Jones, Toney, Hopkins and Benn, Eubank, Calzaghe etc If all these fighters can make money and have things in their favour at home then why goes elsewhere and take the risk of being jobbed. Once it all becomes business above all else then it'll have ramifications. If Wilder won't come to the UK you can bet Hearn was watching that fight and saying to himself there's not a chance I'm letting Joshua fight an American in Vegas, itll have an effect on any fights where a guy who can already draw is coming in.
He could have. Once in every 15 to 20 fights the visiting fighter can expect fair judging over there. He just had to be one of that guys that hit the Vegas jackpot, while in all other cases the house wins. So it isn't probable, but certainly possible.
He would lose anyway. Likely by late TKO, because he took to much punishment. Michalczewski was wide open and slow, perfect for Jones fast hands.
That's not the question though. Was he justified in having concerns about getting a fair shake stateside?
