I think Byrd's loss to Ibeabuchi refutes your positive opininon about his skill. But i think he couldn't beat
    a shot Golota.Where was Byrd's awesome skill against Andrew G. ?

Basically Vitali's injury is an excuse we can or can't accept this by our heart.I think Vitali has stamina problem
against Byrd. Check the last "Vitali-Byrd" round !

Otherwise i can accept Dempsey wouldn't beat Vitali or Lennox but Fury or Joshua are other cases.

It was reported that Vitali hurt his shoulder in 3 three. Vitlai never had a stamina problem, check the punch stats in any of his fights. Tired guys do not score many later round stoppages.

Vitali stepped up a 2nd time in his career and payed the price again. At least he leanred to keep it at the level of retiring guys after that, having learned to avoid the elite previously with lennox.

Dempsey was, imho, a mobile, highly skilled, devasting puncher with good stamina, a solid chin and his killer instinct was second to none. He also wasn’t a bleeder. However, facing skilled super heavyweights who would be too big for Ali would be, perhaps, too much to deal with successfully.

This. Vitali has to be one of the most overrated fighters on this forum. A ton of former heavyweights, who never became champions would crush Vitali.

Another 'small heavyweight from the past v modern super heavyweight' thread - I'm sure it'll finally be resolved this time.

It wasn't a Bernard Hopkins quit job Philly. The injury was legit.

It was clearly reported during the post fight interview the injury happened in round three. Did you miss that part? The link Herol Gee had commercials in rounds 3-4.

Anyway this has little to do with Jack Dempsey. Or how about Vitali easily defeats Dempsey in six rounds. Judging on how quick Flynn Ko'd him, and has easy he was to hit, this could be one sided.

Lol, a Hopkins insult is supposed to get me upset? Maybe in Middle School...fail, try again.

I am not bashing Vitali or calling him a quitter. Whether or not the injury happened in round 3 or not I do not know. I know Vitali and team claim it did, and I have no reason not to believe them. However your claim in this thread and the one from 2 weeks ago (not sure how often we need to revisit this?), that it was reported in round 3 is false. We can’t make up facts to support our claim. It was reported for the first time in the video during the final round. Now for some, maybe you as well?? That is a big deal. I don’t fault Vitali if he was hurt, and I believe he was....but the fact of the announcement of round 3 came later not during that time frame.

I try not to bash boxers anymore, but if it makes you feel more of a man to bash Hop’s have at it bro...no biggie for me.

    Cheers

hopkins was fouled in a wrestling move by his opponent. I didnt see that happening with vits, unless it was a wrestle he tried to pull off, the K bros are famous for that against little guys like former LHW Byrd.

yo tink vits had to quit in 9 to preserve his career, thats what you claim yeh?

so why not quit in 3 to preserve his career, if he was so bothered to preserve his career? or did he think 9 more rounds action would be LESS harmful than quitting in 9 and fighting just 3 more rounds?

how is 3 more rounds way worse tha 9 more rounds.

haha u r full of it Mendy! Vitali was hurt late in the fight, the logic that he was hurt early destroys any argument for quitting in 9. if he was hurt early and wanted to save his career, no way would he go on till nearly the end in order to quit then. 9 more rounds is way worse for your career than when theres just 2 left.
