I'll probably catch some flak for even posting this but could the dempsey of 1919 ko ruiz? The only time he was ko'd in his younger days was by tua and then later on by haye. So could ruiz avoid been knocked out flat by a peak dempsey or does he actually make it to the last round??
Dempsey surely could KO Ruiz. Would he? Don't know. But he had enough power to knock Ruiz down. But if Ruiz' buddy Joe Cortez would've been referee, he'd probably DQ Dempsey after KO punch.
Ha ha yes your probably right big guy, ruiz would have gone down like he was shot then Joe would have jumped in, wrestled dempsey out of the ring and declared ruiz the greatest ever!!!!
No. Ruiz was the modern master of heavyweight negative fighting, a supreme evolution of the sport as craft.
He could stop and drop him, sure. But there's no doubt a ring deviant like Ruiz could spoil his way to the finish here fairly consistently if this fight was simulated several times. He was just that kind of fighter.
Floored as in knocked down on the floor. Query was could a smaller but hard punching dempsey drop a modern day heavy with a decent chin who could also hug like a bear. Hope that answers the question little red.
