He is clearly recognized as the combatant who was badly outclassed and got a hometown gift. It was an utterly disgraceful decision and anyone who knows anything about boxing recognises the inherent corruption in that fight.

Anyone that had Alexander beating Kotelnik needs their head examined.

Devon was hitting arms and elbows all night, was out-jabbed badly and was being hit at will with right hands.

The trouble with judging in America is that far too much emphasis is placed on workrate as opposed to taking the play away from your opponent and making him look average. It's why Calzaghe got the nod over Hopkins, and partly why Pacquiao decisioned Marquez in the rematch, though both were close affairs.

This fight wasn't close, it had 116-112 to Kotelnik written all over it.

Mentally weak? How? Devon was throwing a lot of shots and trying to win that's not mentally weak. It's his ring IQ that was exposed by Kotelnik after Devon won the first 4 rounds clearly. He showed heart against Kotelnik it's just that he fough dumb. He has a better chance to hit Bradley because Bradley doesn't shell up and is easier to hit. The reason Khan beat Kotelnik is because he picked his shots well opposed to Devon who was finding gloves & elbows after the 4th round.

Unfortunately you have a very good point. And I'm an Alexander fan.

I usually favour the fighters who show aggression/workrate but even I had Kotelnilk a mile ahead. I thought the fight was very one sided and the decision almost as bad as Shuemenov/Campillo.

I have got a sneaking suspicion that it was an off night however. DA could give Bradley a pretty hard fight imo.

I don't think Alexander/Bradley will be as one-sided as Calzaghe-Lacy was and I also think people are underrating Alexander because of his poor showing against Kotelnik who is a good fighter. Lets find out tonight what happens but I'll be rooting for Tim.

Lacy was heavily backed by a lot of people going into the calzaghe fight but calzaghe himself said he thought it would be an easy fight for him, especially at home. Not many are really backing devon that strongly after the kotelnik performance and his backers are really hoping it was just a poor showing that night. But at the end of the day the gift win that alexander received against kotelnik has taken a lot of the wind out of his sails, kotelnik is seen by many as a pretty good gatekeeper level in the division and if you cant beat him at home then that could indicate big problems down the line

I wish people would STFU about Alexanders uppercut, it's getting as bad as Mayweathers check hook on here. Just because he KO'd Urango with it, it doesn't mean every time it lands it will kill someone.

Doubtful, Timmy dominated Lamont Peterson and didn't ruin him like Joe ruined Lacy.

Devon Alexander is not the new Jeff Lacy after all, I was wrong.

Because Lacy showed the heart to take a horrible beating from Calzaghe and make it to the final bell.

He didn't lie, play-act and shamefully ***** out of the fight as soon as he realized he wasn't going to win.

    :-(

Nah, Pop. I don't think he'll end up as bad as all that.

    Why the disrespect for Kotelnik?

    1. He beat Alexander clearly.
    2. He beat Maidana
    3. All of his losses are debatable except the Khan fight.
    4. Olympic silver medalist.
    5. JWW world champion.
    6. Has fought at the world level since 2004.
    7. Has very good defense and underrated offense.

    Devon Alexander:
    1. Beat a faded and injured Witter for a vacant belt.
    2. Misleading KO win over Urango. Devon is not a big puncher.
    3. Gift win against Kotelnik.
    4. Loss against Tim Bradley.

Devon Alexander had a bad night? :nono

Kotelnik beat his ass. And so did Bradley.

True that. He didn't even throw it against Bradley.
