Guinn was rated as THE can't miss HW prospect in the world coming out of the amateurs. Considering what he was born with and what he had, he was a total belly flop.
That said his size would have always been on the smallish side. Maybe he just didn't have the mental acuity to graduate past a certain level and just stayed stagnant at the same level he reached as an amateur. Physically he was LOADED.
Anyone seeing him come up would've defo said he was gonna do something. Lost a bit of belief along the way and dedication I think
Smallish, but the probs were against everyone he fought, just went throught the motions it seems..I thought he would've packed it in years ago
He was good - so probably has missed the boat there is terms of potential, but never great. His ring attire was on point, though.
Classic tale of a top class amateur who didn't make the transition to the pro's. The history of the game is full of them. We could start a very long thread on them.
I wasn’t around boxing when he was a prospect, from what i know, he was a contender then when he got older he became a tough journeyman for prospects, he retired recently, but at least Dominic Guinn went out on a win
Guinn and Audley was one of the worst fights ever. You had two guys with loads of talent who hated throwing punches. It looked like they had an agreement to have a bad fight. The Southern Disaster had a great chin and a classy hook. Fighters have down well with less than that. By the way, Guinn still fights for whatever its worth.
