Could Emanuel Augustus Been One of the Most successful boxers ever?

Thanks mate, the crowd didn't know what to think in his last fight!

I think he'll slowly grow on fans in Aus and hopefully draw more people along to watch.

 

He's awesome..love him..cud have been like a freddie pendleton..but he fought like he just didnt care..great to watch..one of my favorites

 

Will this WBO title get him ranked in the WBO top ten or 15. I don't know why, but I've always wanted to see him in a title fight, no matter how many times he loses, lol.

 

To me Augustus will always be a story about what might have been. If he had dedicated himself, and taken his fights more seriously, he would not have those 30 losses. He might have been a solid champion at some point.

 

No, and if he could then my name isn't Emanuel Augustus. A top 5 fighter or so, yes. Maybe would have won a world title, but Emanuel did his own thing and had fun doing it, and likely wouldn't have kept the belt long anyway.

He probably shouldn't be fighting anymore, but congrats on taking that fringe belt. Maybe just one big payday looms...

 

He's that rare journeyman who's super entertaining and skilled, but that doesn't make him a great fighter.

It's too easy to say what could have been, but what Augustus is, well that is what he is.

 

At least 20 out of those 30 were very debatable.

 

Oh Ya! I've seen him get flat out robbed.

 

Some of his losses were the biggest robberies in boxing.

 

Courtney Burton, Teddy Reid, Tomas Barrientes, Alvaro Aguillar, Michael Warrick, Soren Sondegaard--robberies.

Many of his other losses were well-deserved. Off the top of my head: Antonio Diaz, Leo Dorin, PBF, Omar Weis, John John Molina, Diobyles Hurtado, etc.

To say that he might have been an all-time great fighter had he been handled a little better I think is a prety drastic over-exaggeration of Augustus's abilities as a fighter. To me his greatest setback had more to do with his lack of dedication to the sport. It's clear that he never really took this boxing thing too seriously especially earlier in his career. Had he had a more serious work ethics and applied more dedication to the sport, he might have been a prety formidable champion at some point in his career.

But could he have been one of the most successful fighters ever? Nah, I don't think so.
