Of course. I always look back to the younger Holyfield, the one who went toe 2 toe with Foreman as a judging tool. That version of Holyfield on that night would beat down the Lewis from the first McCall fight.

I don't know about that. That Holyfield hadn't taken all his special supplements yet

My fav fighter back in his prime. I bet on him to beat Tyson. Yes, he could have beaten Lewis. Fair judging in the rematch and he may have but it's years since I watched it.

The issue is yes the younger Holyfield was probably fresher and a bit sharper overall, but the problem is Holyfield in the early 90s liked to brawl alot more. Holyfield actually fought smarter by the time he fought Tyson, and was in some ways a better fighter.

If you could give Holyfield the IQ of the mid to late 90s Holyfield, and combine the fresher version of Holyfield in the early 90s. Then yes I think Holyfield could beat Lewis.

But in reality that isn't happening so I think Holyfield always loses to Lewis in all honesty.

I think people are slightly overrating Holyfield in the early 90s aswell. Remember this was the same fighter that went life and death with a past it Michael Dokes, was almost knocked out by Bert Cooper. And looked weak down the stretch vs an old Larry Holmes losing between 4 or 5 rounds.

Holyfield despite being a very good Heavyweight always looked beatable.

Lewis clearly won the rematch 7-5, 8-4. The fight was close after 7 rounds but Lewis won pretty much most of the remaining rounds after that.

As for fair judging ? There was certainly not fair judging in their 1st meeting.

Fair enough, I was biased towards Holyfield at the time. My post was not in reference to the first fight.

He tried to steal rounds in the rematch but did a pretty good job at it, the fight was close so yes a prime Holyfield could have beaten Lewis.

If I run camp Holyfield, I salary vs % a few excellent salespeople to infiltrate camp Lewis and blow smoke up his ass 24/7 to the point that he is grinning ear to ear and rolling around in his own stink through the weigh in. Camp Holyfield occurs in a Seawolf class submarine somewhere around the Mariana Trench. In this fashion The Real Deal KO2 LL every time.

What was Evander paying against Tyson out of curiosity?

Well, it's still one of my fav wins ever. I told my Dad, to put the bet on for me as I got stuck and couldn't get to the TAB. All these online sports betting sites weren't around. I wanted to bet on a stoppage which was 14/1 but Dad just placed my bet for Evander, head to head which was 7/1. It was satisfying because I'd been telling everyone for a few years that Evander was gonna do him. They thought I was nuts.

Of course peak Holyfield can beat the worst version of Lennox Lewis. Otherwise, it would be too much of a difference in quality.

Lewis wins 85% of the time. Lewis could really turn it up when he needed to in his peak, but he could be lazy and effective just behind the jab. It would take a mammoth effort for Holyfield to overcome. By the way Lewis boxes way better than Bowe on the outside, which will always be a massive advantage over Holyfield.
