Listen the measurement you saw was for his expanded chest has the penny still not dropped? His unexpanded chest was 43inches! Do you think his normal chest was over 4 feet in circumference!
You posted his chest was 50 inches expanded and its wrong ,and you know it is, can't you find it in yourself to say
    I MADE A MISTAKE.It would be a first!

    This is all lies then?

Michael J. Thomas of the Providence Journal wrote, "Marciano did not win the fight. This reporter gave it to Lowry, six rounds to four.”

The crowd of 3,696 booed the decision and some wondered if Lowry had thrown the fight. "There were some questions as to whether Lowry, who had come close to knocking out Marciano in the second, third and fourth rounds, deliberately bogged down in his attack after the fourth stanza," Thomas wrote. "Lowry stopped using his uppercut after the fourth. He went into a shell and only occasionally landed power shots. He seemed to be carrying Marciano."

In his book Rocky Marciano: The Rock of His Times, Russell Sullivan wrote the following:

"It was Lowry, not Marciano, who was on the verge of scoring an early knockout, stinging Marciano with two terrific rights in the first round and then rocking him with two mighty uppercuts in the second. By the fourth, a staggered Marciano seemed just one punch away from being knocked out. But then, inexplicably, Lowry stopped fighting and retreated into a shell despite warnings from the referee to open up and a cascade of boos from the crowd. To many, it appeared that Lowry was deliberately carrying Marciano. Was foul play afoot? Was Lowry getting paid to lose? Or was he merely tiring? Whatever the reason, a revived Marciano managed to rally in the late rounds even though many of his punches missed their mark or lacked force. On the basis of his aggressiveness and constant punching, Marciano won a unanimous decision from the judges. Most observers felt, however, that Lowry should have won."
Lowry, who earned $2,500 for the fight, denied he threw the fight. "I beat Rocky that night and that’s it," he said. "He changed his strategy in the fifth round and made a fight of it, but I won two of the last six rounds after winning the first four. It was a hometown decision."

Marciano stated he thought Lowry would always go the distance with him.

I actually think Holyfield's 28-0 (before Bowe) is better and harder to do than Marciano's 49-0 - Holyfield fought at world level for 6 years, Marciano 5 years

    Buster Douglas
    Larry Holmes (38)
    George Foreman (38)
    Michael Dokes
    Pinklon Thomas
    Qawi x2
    Carlos DeLeon
    Ossie Ocasio
    Bert Cooper
    Alex Stewart (undefeated)
    Henry Tilman
    Tillis

8 champions (only 3 lineal) and a decent set of contenders. Even Rodriguez was a South American champion

If you gave it what I call the Marciano treatment it wouldn’t be. Foreman and Holmes were what both 42 I believe. Cant imagine a Marciano opponent thag old what people would say. Hell he beat a 37 year old Louis and was chastised. Can’t imagine adding another five years. Douglas was not the same Douglas thag met Iron Mike. Shell of himself really. The rest are average contenders. None of which are popping up on anyone’s best contender lists. That being said it’s a nice list. He was a true warrior.

I’m sure any variables, which favored one’s success in such an undertaking, would be gratefully received.

The age difference isn't that vast compared to Moore, Walcott and Louis, there's a few years in it and both men are much bigger men than those guys. More importantly Holmes had dominated a top contender in Mercer and Foreman would beat Moorer. Both make most top 10 all time great HW lists. I tend to think that version of Holmes beats everyone on Marciano's resume.

Douglas wasn't in shape, but he was still 1 fight removed from dominating Tyson

Thomas and Dokes were titlists and top contenders of the decade

Qawi was a 2 weight world champion that would compete and Deleon another cruserweight champion

Sorry no way Holmes at that age gets anywhere near undefeated. There’s a lot of fighters in there I’d take over Spinks easy. And that Holmes was much younger.

don’t forget Louis was also on a win streak on his comeback and beat more ranked contenders then Holmes prob did in his comeback (doesn’t get credit for).

Dokes and Thomas were ok. But nothing special.

Qawi was a good win the first time. Second time he was past it. Reality is it’s not as strong as Marcianos 49-0 but it’s a solid resume. Holy would go on to blow The level of Marciano opponents away with Bowe, Tyson, Byrd and Lewis but he lost most of those. Would have been nice to see him fight those guys earlier in his career but I don’t think the outcomes change.

Holmes beat Spinks in the rematch by any fair card. And Spinks was younger, about 10-20lbs heavier than Charles/Moore, 2-3 inches in height and a few inches in reach over them. Spinks was also an undefeated prime fighter, were as Moore and Charles were older and past prime

I'd take Dokes and Thomas over LaStarza and Layne. Qawi whether he wins or not would gave Moore and Charles a hard night

Louis in his comeback looked slow and he couldn't put his punches together. Holmes was still very fast when he was shutting out Mercer. Foreman could still clearly pull the trigger even at 45, where as Louis couldn't any more.

Agree to disagree. Spinks isn’t even in the same league as those other guys imo. Layne is also a league above those other guys. Holmes and Foreman looked slightly better on film Agree there...slightly. I’m not sure we will find common ground here besides that lol.

    Moore's Mother insisted he was 41,Walcott was 38 & 39.
Was the Louis that Marciano beat the same as the pre- war Brown Bomber?
What was Holyfield supposed to do, say Douglas may be the champ but what if he isn't in the condition of the Douglas that fought Tyson , I'll pass on my title shot?
Holyfield was 35 when he re-won the title from Moorer, Marciano had been retired for 2 years at that age.

I think only the Qawi and Dokes fight remotely represent anything close to a comparison to some of Marcianos lesser key fights. The others fall way short.
Well let’s have a look at the opponents you highlight for Evander within his first 28 bouts...
Buster Douglas offered no more resistance than the version of Walcott in the rematch with Marciano. That win was nothing on the Walcott of the first fight for Marciano.

Larry Holmes was so far short of the level he had been when he lost to Michael Spinks that I think it is impossible not to think Marciano beat guys better than Michael Spinks. If Larry was then still as good as old 1951 version of Joe Louis he ought to wake up and apologise. Yet it was as difficult a fight for Holyfield as Charles was for Rocky!

George Foreman was seen as a novelty when Evander fought him. People forget The fact George did so well hurt Evanders rep as a champion at that time. Don Cokkell really had better credentials on paper to challenge Marciano than Foreman had to challenge Evander. It’s a win that grew over time far beyond its original status.

Michael Dokes gave Evander a desperate fight. A war. But Ezzard Charles would have killed that Dokes. Still it was a coming of age win and I think it was one of the best heavyweight fights of the decade.

Pinklon Thomas probably would not get past old joe Louis around the time he fought Evander.

Qawi was a good fight. He represents perhaps the kind of fighter Rex Layne was at the time he fought Rocky since he had beat Walcott...a better fighter than Qawi ever beat. But this was a real proven result for Holyfield.

Carlos DeLeon was no more of a deal than Harry Kid Mathews. He really wasn’t.

Ossie Ocasio was no better than Lee Savold.

Substitute Bert Cooper was probably Bernie Reynolds level at the time. Against Evander what was Coopers best actual win? And he gave Holyfield tough moments. Evander was criticised at the time. Though it was a good fight.

Alex Stewart (undefeated) was Holyfeilds Carmine Vingo.

Henry Tilman was barely about Roland Lastarza level. Tops. But Evander dealt with him well.

Tillis really only represents somebody like Freddie Beshore. A total retread. Dead man walking

Layne and Lastarza would have great difficulty breaking the top ten in Evander's era, neither were much at all.
