i remember how good vargas was or at least how much potential he was being predicted as. i would have love to see him against paul williams at jr. middle, i think it would have been a terrific fight. i think martinez would be a more tactical fight but i think vargas could hang with both of them... i think.

    who would win?

Not sure if he could do it on the same night, but definitely if he took each fighter on a separate night.

He would embarass P-dub, I think, club him down.

Martinez would give him a rougher time.

He'd be most probably having a field day with Williams.

    He'll dismantle Williams.

    Martinez will give him hell

I think he'd lose to both. Williams doesn't typically get knocked out, wheras Vargas got hurt pretty frequently. He might decision Martinez if he were really active and Martinez took the middle rounds off. I wouldn't favor him versus either though.

Can't put it better than that.

Fernando walks through P-Dub, just a classic case of short punches beating long ones. Vargas had a really compact punching style. He'd have stepped inside of Williams gawky shots and absolutely unloaded on him.

Hard to call Martinez - Vargas. You could use his fight with Winky as a barometer, but outside of being southpaws, Winky and Martinez are such different fighters there isn't much point. I'm actually going to stick up for Nando here and say he survives an early KD to take a late, probably controversial decision. Would have been an awesome fight.

I have serious doubts that Williams would get as badly hurt against Flores and Quartey. I also don't see ODLH turning him into a bobble head doll. I'll give Vargas a pass versus Trinidad, but the rest of his career also seemed to feature him eating punches and not taking them very well.

Vargas would be at an athletic and chin disadvantage against Williams and Martinez, and I'd expect it show.

Same. Maybe i'm just high on Sergio after that knockout, but he has balls, power, solid skills, great speed. Really exciting fighter IMO much more so than someone like Williams.

HBO spent too much time and money promoting the wrong guy!

williams is a target and likes to come foreword exactly what vargas likes. even a few classes below he was able to drop trinidad in the mid rounds almost only because that all vargas had going for him aggression technique and power coupled with a pulverising body attack and a destructive left hook. southpaw or not p williams style of fight could really **** up here. enters the workhouse and back the guy up which should negate the positiveness of the southpaw stance. but a good interesting fight. also vargas isn't much of a picker with shots so i doubt he would do what martinez did to him. williams might be able to use that swarming style to his advantage coming right into the line of fire if williams goes on the back foot.

vargas was slow as anything which people do forget. i think vargas might just get chewed up withou t knowing it. thinking he is doing good work on the inside might lead to him being worn down by the late rounds.....possibly williams could get to him. sd williams

martinez is a bit more interesting, when it comes to boxers fighting vargas boxers and movers usually look good or can at least pull off some tricks. winky came to him but pulled out when he was set to make him fling at elbows or thin air. and the southpaw jab really through him off. i just don't know how martinez will fight would he come foreword to get him to trade then back off throwing some combo's or would he circle and keep his hands dangerously low? the low guard usually works against very technical well based fighter. they don't want to break out of there stance to get to him vargas had no quams.
i think vargas might of been able to bully him and get a sd

  14. forget it, i know sergio and he is fast like the hell,a great stylist, he would beat vargas by decision.

you know Sergio in person? that's pretty cool but I still say Fernando beats both, with Sergio it'd be very close and probably a decision.
