No. Mayweather is a runner and a hugger. Won't work in MMA where you can take people down, pick them up and slam them, beat them up in a clinch. He's also featherfisted. Bad combination.

Of course he would if he trained for it. He's 100 times the athlete that anyone in the UFC is.

almost impossible... considering his age and style.

He would have to rewrite absolutely everything and practically start all over again.

No. PBF doesn't like pain and getting hit, and utter whitewashes are rare in MMA. Plus he's 40 and has zero time to learn other skills. In a nutshell, he'd get KTFO if he tried to ...

:deal The truth is strong with this post.

Fedor's brother Aleks had good hands by mma standards, and he wanted to go into boxing. He won his matches but struggled mightliy with two no-name brand fighters, putting things into perspective.

A truckload of kick boxers, thai fighters and a few MMA fighters have had success in the ring since the 1970's or more recently in MMA's case. Boranbkk and Fleaman, ex members, did a list way back on this forum and its long. :deal

Alexs was KO'd through leg kicks and hands in a MMA bout by none other than our Peter Graham a couple of years ago - Kyokushin fighter, kick boxer, boxer, MMA fighter who won the OZ HW title. World recognised in three martial art disciplines and nationally in boxing. :deal

That said Mayweather has no chance - and rightly no interest. He is a skillful, athletic boxer and we pay to see that.

Nope. Plenty of other boxers if they learned to sprawl could go the distance with many lower tiered wrestlers but not mayweather.

so enlighten us...Who the hell does like pain and getting hit? Im sure such a fighter has a load of bad losses and are gonna be dazed&confused by the time they're senior citizens.

But I agree 40 is too old to debut in another major pro sport. It'd be more interesting to see a MMA guy 26-32 yrs old in his physical prime try to cross over to box old man Mayweather since supposedly UFC guys are well rounded cross trainers

I think a highly skilled boxer has a better shot in MMA than any MMA fighter does in boxing. I'd bet it's easier to learn takedown defense and how to check leg kicks & add that to a complete boxing skill set. Floyd already has a great control of distance, fast hands, a great reach, and would probably do damage in those 4oz gloves against guys who don't get caught as cleanly as Floyd would tag them. I once outlined what I think the best emphasis for an elite boxer in MMA would be strategically, and Floyd would be able to execute it well.
