Could Floyd Patterson have made LHW with same day weigh ins?

    I suppose he could have with day before weigh ins, but remember, in his day, there were only same day weigh ins. By the 60s, he was weighing in the 190s. Could he have cut to the 175 pound weight limit and still retained his strength? I think at some point, heavyweight was in his future. I think he could have continued to make light heavyweight for the rest of the 1950s, but by the 60s, he would need to move up.

    He ate up in weight and had a hard time of it as a vegetarian. However approaching the 2nd Ingo fight he commented that he never paid attention to his weight that he’d gained 8lbs (190lbs) and assumed his weight as 182lbs and asked if the scale might be broken. He could’ve fought at 175lbs for probably 4 or so years from the time he beat Archie Moore in our timeline but he was still very young and I don’t think there was a reason to stay at that weight.
