Well, yeah, saying he couldn't make the weight is giving him the benefit of the doubt that he is a sportsman and not just a ***** who decided to use every advantage possible including setting a catch weight with the intention of ignoring it. Whatever the truth may be, and we all know the answer, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that he couldn't make the weight. But on the other hand Mayweather is a big man nowadays with practically no body fat and if he drops weight below 146 he could be giving up valuable muscle mass and that could be another reality there, that he is not the little guy he's portrayed to be. He looked bigger than Mosley last time around.
Moving down to 140lbs wouldn't serve him well at this point. I feel he's probably grown into 147lbs and he'd need to drain himself to make 140lbs, which goes against his philosophy. Floyd just comes in healthy and lets skills pay the bills.
Ask EZE when it comes to Mayweather's weight and what divisions Mayweather can fight. That guy knows Mayweather's weight like the back of his palm. I am wondering what happened to his Dad? Last time I read, his pop is sick. Hopefully, he is on recovery already.
Put it this way I think Mayweather is enough of a ***** to seek physical advantages in a fight against someone like Marquez if he can do it without incurring huge penalties. Not cooking himself down and being able to remain hydrated through the week of training is a huge advantage. If he wanted to boil to 144, he could have done it - it's 2 lbs less than what he weighed in at for this fight and you never saw him look anywhere near dehydrated in his fights.
