Could Froch really lose by KO? I mean really??

I can see it. Despite the fact that I can't stand the guy and hope he loses:

1: Ward has a bit more power than most people give him credit for. He doesn't have 1-punch power, but he hits pretty hard. I think he's just been up against very resilient punchers.

2: While he doesn't use it often, Ward has a great check-hook. Froch will be trying to win by early KO, knowing he'll never get a decision. Due to Ward's excellent defense + dirty inside game, that will mean lunging from the outside, so Froch will be VERY open to a check-hook. That could easily end the fight, esp in the later rounds when Froch starts to get desperate.

In fact,as much as it pains me to write it, that's my official prediction:

Ward by check-hook KO in round 7-9.

 

I doubt it, I think a cuts stoppage is the only way a stoppage happens.

 

I'm not ruling out an accumulative stoppage. Froch is pretty open and Ward has very good boxing ability. Even Smoger will stop a one-sided beating regardless of whether a KO looks likely (see: Khan - Malignaggi).

 

So you think just getting technically beat will help Smoger come to a conclusion of stopping Carl, when S6, WBC, WBA and Ring Magazine Belt is on the line?

Looking at it from the bright side, should that happen, at least Froch would've got some of that tongue action, from Smoger. :blurp

 

Froch has THE strongest chin in boxing to date........ so no.
