I've always wondered if age was a factor in their 2015 bout

Age was a factor, but I think to answer your question, you could see it that way.

Other than guys like Ray Austin and Wach, who were, and let's be fair to them, fringe contenders, Wlad doesn't have too many wins against big boys, and often struggled when he fought even guys the size and quality of Sanders and Williamson.

I like Wlad, he is definitely a great, but Fury and Joshua are going to sign a fight that will leave one of them owning the division in a way that Wladdy never did, since he split it with his brother.

Let's see how Fury does against Joshua, and that may help clarify.

A motivated 40 year old Wlad would have beat Fury in the rematch never mind a prime Wlad. That’s why Fury s**t it from him because he knew Wlad would have smashed him. AJ beat the better Wlad. AJ has the best resume in the division.

Come @ me you Fury fanboys.

I don't see any reason to come at you, but let me ask you this:

If Fury decisively beats Joshua...and I like them both so I admit that is a big if...but if he does, will that alter or even just soften that opinion?

Ha I was just baiting. But if Fury beats AJ easily I’d have to just block miniq, swallow my pride, take my L and accept he’s the best wouldn’t I. He’s not gonna do that though because Fury struggles with aggressive combination punchers, Wallin was not a fluke, it’s a style he’s struggled with for years. Fury even spoke about how good an amateur AJ who had only been boxing 2 years was. Completely battered him in sparring.

Less likely, but not a big shift either way.... Wlad would have always been tentative and slow to pull the trigger against a big m/fer like Fury, and Fury would always have made the fight ugly and spoiled in order to keep Wlad’s opportunity to land the right to a minimum.

I think this fight would always have been a 55/45, 60/40 type fight, in either direction

If AJ wins miniq will go into hiding for a while. He used to be just as big a Khan fan as he is Fury back in the day. I’d have loved to have seen his melt downs every time Khan got sparked clean out lol. Hopefully I’ll get to see it if AJ beats Fury.

Wlad was a freak, he was never unmotivated. You should listen to interviews of guys who have sparred him. He had an insane regimen when in camp. Joshua beat a two year older inactive Wlad who was also coming off his first loss in twelve years. These are the facts.

    • We seen Wlad get beat in his prime
    • We never saw Tyson Fury get beat
    and
    • We seen Wlad get stopped & outboxed
    • We seen Tyson Fury get up from a KO

Possible, but I would clearly favor Wlad.
I guess prime Wlad wins 4 out of 5, if not 9 out of 10.

You need take off your 2018-2019 glasses. AJ isn’t that guy you think he is anymore. AJ have fights like Wlad nowadays ffs.

AJ didn’t want to spar Fury before the Wilder 2 fight for obvious reasons.

I am a big wlad fanboy, but I think wlad always loses the first fight against fury, because he underestimated him and was legitimately surprised and could not adapt. A rematch would be a 50-50. Wlad would prepare way better and know what is coming. Fury would never engage wlad like he fought wilder 2, cause wlad is technically in a different world to everyone else besides fury and he has atg power and a great defense.
Imo fury wins always at least 1 fight of a three fight series and the others are 50-50
