No end game point from me - just an isolated analysis.

Jimmy Young did have a very hot run - giving all the upper echelon names grief, in both his wins and losses.

Though in fairly close proximity to his previous and recent successes, the Young who faced Ocasio wasn’t the same fighter.

For the first Ocasio fight at least, he came in at a too heavy 220 lbs. In his more recent and serious fights, I believe he was coming in between 210 lb to 213 lb otherwise.

Young struck me as a guy who would put the max. effort in for the bigger names with the promise of continued promotion of his status and wealth.

I could guess that the losses to both Ali and Norton, hiccups in his go forward progress and fights which Young thought he won, perhaps took a good amount of wind out of Jimmy’s sails.

...though, the idea of conducting business from the back of a 1986 Lincoln Town Car is strangely quite appealing.

I always found this anecdote from the great Eddie Futch cut right to the core of young Foreman. That hard jab, against swarmers and forward moving fighters, was strategic murder for them.

Eddie Futch said of Young Foreman: “Everything he does works off his jab, that long, thudding jab. His left hand stops you in your tracks, and sets you up for his uppercuts and hooks.

Jimmys the sort of guy who needed to be champ to unlock his full potential because he'd have benefitted from more rounds. Beating him in a 10 rounder was a much more doable thing while beating him over 15 is something only ATGs could have done in my view. He needed them extra rounds. Think without those last two rounds, the knockdown and the deduction the Foreman fight is a draw. When Young got his 12+ rounds he was fighting Foreman, Ali, Norton, Lyle and at the end Greg Page.

Excellent points re the # of rounds and how they benefited a fighter of Young’s ilk.

Jimmy required the rounds to see his minimal, acutely defensive strategy of simply “getting hit less than you’re hitting” to unpack to full advantage over the longer haul.

Suffice to say, at least imo, Young’s fights aren’t the easiest to score.

Different style of course, but against his very best opposition, the 15 round duration was perfect for Monzon’s seemingly most natural, cool, calm, patient and methodical style.

Actually without those last two rounds, and four extra points, Foreman would've won a narrow SD.

Even IF true, that's not how this works at all. Some of the most baffling "logic" I've ever seen on this site.
You know you ****ed up, when one of the biggest Foreman detractors on here is calling you out.

The 2nd scorecard would be a 96-96 tie by my math. Am I making a mistake or something? Says 116-112. Subtracted 20 and 17 from Young and Foreman then gave Foreman the deduction point.

Norton is not an ATG and beat Young over 15 rounds so that's false.

And saying "if" the fight would've been 10 rounds is not a good argument because a fighter would prepare differently, Young would probably let his hands go earlier had the fight been 10 rounds.

As for Young vs Foreman scoring i had Young ahead by 2 points after 10 rounds.

    Jimmy Young vs George Foreman

    1 Even
    2 Young
    3 Young 10-8 point deduction
    4 Foreman
    5 Foreman
    6 Young
    7 Foreman
    8 Young
    9 Young
    10 Foreman
    11 Young
    12 Young 10-8 knockdown

    116-111 Young

Inbound: “He was brain dead, totally shot!, it was Gil Clancy’s fault, the lights but also Young was an ATG a couple times… GF was too patient and Don King told him to let Young last”
