Ward is a lot bigger than GGG. The fight makes no sense. By the time they step in the ring Ward would be 15 lbs. heavier.
Jr is bigger than Ward. Ward/GGG makes sense, just neither side has much genuine interest in making it - neither side - until its a PPV level fight.
Chavez Jr weighs more than Ward on fight night, so try another excuse. Plus there is nothing uncommon about fighters moving up in weight to fight the next best available opponent. Thats exactly what Stevenson and Martinez did when they couldn't get people to fight them.
The difference is GGG is well-suited to his current weight. Ward is lean. He is just a bigger guy. Chavez may be as big as Ward on fight night but he is not near the fighter Ward is. GGG is smart to not take this fight. If Ward fans are so set on a GGG-Ward contest why doesn't their guy go DOWN in weight?
Dude stop using weight as a reason why GGG cannot fight Ward. The guys I just mentioned are not suited to the weight class that they are currently fighting in yet they made the sacrifice to move up in order to increase both their legacy and financial reward. Sure ward is bigger than Golovkin, but the size difference is not that much significant that the fight can't be made. Bernard Hopkins at age 39 moved two weight classes in order to fight Antonio Tarvar. Look Pac is fighting in his 8 weight class, Marquez in fighting in his 4th and Floyd is fighting in his 6th. I know you like GGG but don't try to BS us with this weight excuse used on a guys who supposedly is the most feared man in boxing.
Golovkin and Ward will fight. It will just happen in 2015 not 2014, honestly I dont see why its really even a point of discussion. Ward cant fight anyone right now, so there arent even preliminary negotiations about a match. HBO has had the idea floated to them, but they arent that interested right now either for various reasons. Noone is avoiding anyone here, and unless injury or business reasons make it impossible they are going to meet sometime between March and August of 2015. Just watch.
Al Hayman is clearly going to ruin this PPV for GGG. He will end up fighting Andy Lee on regular HBO July 19th. Of course the same poster's will blame this all on GGG or at the very least take Chavez Jr's side when he signs with Hayman the same way they did Stevensons'
Stevenson keeps calling out Ward, said he will fight him at 175 or even go down to 168, so if Ward wants a big money fight Stevenson will be ready right after his next fight. I don't hear Ward calling out Kovalev or Stevenson? Ward did claim he would easily beat both Klitschkos, but he never offered a contract. Of course, a fight with Ward means fighting in his home town with his personal referee, judges, boxing commission, etc., everything has to be as Ward wants it...........
Chavez Jr is going to outweigh GGG by 20 pounds on the night. This fight shouldnt be happening at 168. While GGG is a great fighter at 160 he is no supermiddleweight. In fact he isa small middleweight and could probably make 154.
