Who owes who an apology now? I've seen you comment quite objectively since the fight was over so fair play but I just thought id remind you of this little beauty above :nut

 

And by the way, i'm well aware my prediction (ref stopping the fight in favour of Groves) didnt come in :good

 

He was! he f*cking well was!

 

I predicted a round 5-9 stoppage for Froch. I don't feel especially good about it..

 

I wasn't as brave as to back the stoppage, but i had £50 on groves at 3's.

gutted for George, he was the boss, the look on Carls face was priceless, but he has done himself no harm and gained a hell of alot of fans after this.

It made me laugh in the post fight interview when carl was trying to justify the decision. "theres a few people booing........"

No carl, there is 20,000 people booing and you cant here yourself think because of the boos.

 

:good You was pretty much spot on, well for the first 6 rounds you were. groves was the better fighter and proved his power was for real. Froch showed incredible toughness and got lucky in the end but we will never know what would have happened in those last few rounds.

What a fight though.

Like I said beforehand mate, its all about opinions. Believe me i've been horrendously wrong in the past.

I was absolutely livid with the decision, however despite me now really REALLY not liking Froch (moreso after his classless post fight interview) he really is one tough ****er.
I said half way through the fight to my mate "The thing is now, even if Froch comes on strong and knocks Groves out, there's nothing for Groves to be ashamed of. Realistically no other fighter at or around 168 could've withstood Groves' punishment in the manner Froch could. If he faced 90% of the top boys at 168 he'd have them out of the ring. Only the likes of Ward (etc) would he not be able to have his own way against.

Shame for both fighters in reality.
Groves because, he (and I) genuinely dont believe he was hurt in the way Froch is spouting and genuinely believed he could have gone on to the final bell. Lets not forget it wasnt like he wasn't still having success of his own. To suggest that he too could've gone on and hurt Froch again and possibly stopped him isnt totally out of question.
Froch because he believes he was coming on strong (he's done so before) and may believe he was stopped of a win would have rendered any arguments moot.

Still, Foster made a call and thats it done now. I believe it was a bad call (especially given Froch was in worse trouble of 3/4 occasions but got the benefit of the doubt - AND RIGHTFULLY SO, THIS WAS A WORLD TITLE FIGHT) however the treatment of him post fight was nothing short of scandelous. Throwing coins at the poor bloke and rendering him needing security escort to get out of the arena. Classless. I've been to many shows before, some with mates some on my own (following fighters i've known). When you go on your own and drive (remaining sober) you really do get to see how many casual dickheads boxing attracts. Pumped up wannabees have a couple of pints, watch a combat sport, somehow believe they're the next SRL and next thing you know some beaut is on his feet shadow boxing two seats down for you.

For me, on Saturday the stoppage wasnt the massive thing that needs addressing. Foster had a call to make and probably made it with Groves' interest and safety in mind (trying not to be cynical) and he made it. But.............
