I ask "could have" because obviously this fight is scheduled to take place in January if Groves beats Cox and it's simply too cold to have a stadium fight then.

For me yes. This could easily do 30,000+ at Stamford Bridge for example. Even without Eddie Hearn promoting I think it would easily be a stadium success.

It's probably going to happen in the O2.

I would of thought it can do a stadium. Jnr especialy is very marketable. Groves is well known. I dont think it would take much to make this a stadium fight.
Like you say, this will probably end up at O2, which is 20,000 In itself.
The only point i may disagree with u on, is i do think it would probably need hearn promoting it.

Common sense has to prevail. Far too cold in January. However it wouldn't shock me if one of the fighters suffered an "injury" in December leading to a postponement until March or April. Money talks and if the Sauerlands really push for it I'm sure they can engineer a stadium fight by delaying the contest.

Knocking out George Groves in front of 80.000 screaming fans!

Probably could have been. But I guess there are big halls or sportscenters with many seats in the UK too. Of course it's not certain Groves will be Eubank Jr's opponent because he can still be eaten by a flying shark, or hit by a meteor.

I excpect Groves to beat Jr though.

Definitely could be a stadium fight. Two very marketable fighters.

Imagine St George coming in on his bus and CEJ coming in on a blingmobile to DR Dre. Could be great fun.

Definetely think it could have been a massive stadium fight if it was promoted properly. But accessibility to the two boxers kills it.

They ve not had enough time either to build a back story between the two. The two fighters are also hiden from sky sports subscribers atm...and stupidly both been made ppv on itv for the opening fights. It wont reach its potential...thats for sure. I think you could still sell 15,000 tickets but the ppv wont be nearly as high as it could have been. Still reckon it could have potentially done 50,000 tickets. But not at this point.

Hearn will be gutted hes missing out on it. Cause he probably could have sold about 50/60,000 for it if he had both of them for long enough. Wouldnt even surprise me if he hasnt been on the phone to both of them already trying to get a pullout and do it on box office. Would do well. But still not as well as it could have done if they we,re both his fighters for a while.

Think the tournaments pretty lucrative anyway tho.

Don't think Smith is that kind of draw.

I would be surprise if this fight doesn't get pushed back till march/April to give it more promotional time.

If hearn was doing it then a stadium could have been viable.

Will probably be in the 02 imo
