Everybody talks about The super six tournament, but Kessler has to defend his belt against this guy first, it is allways dangerus to look past your next opponent, could he pull an upset?
From the position he was in a few months ago i think he'll realise how good things are looking for him in future and wont jeapardise it by taking perdomo lightly. That said i would not be surprised if 3 danish judges and a danish ref just to make sure! to be honest win lose or draw kessler has to be in the tournament, unless he was absolutely destroyed which is unlikely. taylor coming in after a loss so dont think it would matter esp considering the huge following he has in europe, commercially he is too valuable.
Perdomo's a decent fighter, but he's not beating Kessler. Mikkel's going to be too focused to allow that to happen.
Kessler doesn't have to defend his title. All mandatories and other obligation are void - due to the tournament. Perdomo will have to wait until the tournament is over and then he can make an arguement for his mandatory shot. By then - who's to say that Kessler will still have his belt?
Perhaps blame my ignorance of the lower levels of the European scene, but the mandatories they are digging up for Kessler are absolutely ridiculous. This fight, reasonably, gets a pass because it's a prelude to the great tournament, but if that wasn't around the corner, my God!
I have read otherwise. That he will defend it in Sept. and fight ward in November. I think the scene of boxing as an article on it.
I watched a couple of his fights, and he looks like a tough nut to crack. Not that physically gifted, but he's an awkward southpaw with solid defense.
